Job Description Job Title: Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic Job Description As a Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic, you install, calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair advanced construction technology on heavy machinery while traveling frequently to active job sites. You diagnose complex mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic issues and provide hands-on support and training to equipment operators and site personnel. This role combines technical expertise, field-based problem-solving, and significant travel in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Responsibilities • Install, calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair advanced construction technology, including machine control and guidance systems, tiltrotators, and sensors on heavy equipment., • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic issues on a wide range of heavy equipment and construction machinery., • Perform routine diagnostics, inspections, and preventive maintenance to ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently., • Provide hands-on technical support to equipment operators and site personnel at active construction job sites., • Deliver on-site training to operators and site staff on the proper use, care, and basic troubleshooting of machine control and guidance systems., • Investigate and resolve complex technical problems in the field, often with limited on-site resources., • Document service activities, diagnostics, repairs, and parts used in a clear and organized manner., • Collaborate with internal teams to communicate field issues, share feedback, and support continuous improvement of equipment and systems., • Travel frequently, often for 1–2 week trips, to remote or challenging environments to support customer needs., • Hands-on experience working with heavy equipment, construction machinery, or similar equipment., • Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical troubleshooting skills., • Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues in the field., • Experience with machine control systems, automation, robotics, or construction technology (preferred)., • Technical certifications in mechanics, hydraulics, electronics, or related fields (preferred)., • Minimum of 3–5 years of management or team leadership experience., • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with equipment operators, clients, and internal teams., • Ability to work independently in remote or challenging environments., • Willingness to travel up to 80% of the time, with typical trips lasting 1–2 weeks., • Technical certifications in mechanics, hydraulics, electronics, or related disciplines., • Back ground in construction technology, automation, or robotics., • Experience providing on-site training and coaching to operators or field personnel., • Ability to adapt quickly to changing job site conditions and varying types of equipment., • Strong organizational skills for documenting service work and managing multiple service requests. You operate in a fast-paced environment where priorities can shift quickly, and each site presents different equipment, conditions, and challenges. Hotel and lodging are covered while traveling, and you regularly use diagnostic tools, testing equipment, and advanced construction technologies such as machine control and guidance systems.
