Job DescriptionSalary: Hourly pay range: $20 $30, based on experience Part-Time Art Instructor STEAMspark is seeking a creative, enthusiastic, and child-centered Part-Time Art Instructor to nurture artistic expression, confidence, and imagination in young children. This role involves designing and leading engaging visual arts lessons aligned with our Montessori and STEAM curriculum while fostering a warm, inspiring, and developmentally appropriate learning environment. Job Overview Are you passionate about helping children explore creativity through visual arts? Do you enjoy guiding young learners as they experiment with color, texture, and artistic techniques? As our Part-Time Art Instructor, you will lead small group art classes 23 times per week during the afternoon hours. Children will explore drawing, painting, mixed media, sculpture, and foundational art concepts while developing creativity, focus, and fine motor skills. Work Schedule • Part-time position, • Afternoon classes, typically between 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM, two days per week, • Final schedule based on enrollment and age grouping Role & Responsibilities Art Instruction & Project Preparation • Teach age-appropriate lessons in drawing, painting, collage, sculpture, and mixed media, • Introduce foundational art concepts (color theory, line, shape, texture, composition), • Prepare students for informal showcases and our Winter and Spring Recitals, • Develop lesson plans that build skills progressively and encourage creative exploration, • Select materials and projects suited to developmental levels and safety guidelines Child Engagement & Growth • Create a joyful, encouraging, inclusive space for all learners, • Adapt instruction to a variety of learning styles and sensory needs, • Provide positive guidance and supportive, constructive feedback, • Foster creativity, independence, and confidence in each child Collaboration & Communication • Communicate with families and staff regarding student progress, projects, and events, • Work collaboratively with dance, choir, and orchestra instructors for integrated arts events, • Maintain attendance records, project notes, and basic portfolio documentation Required Qualifications • Experience teaching visual arts to children, preferably ages 312, • Strong skills in drawing, painting, and general studio art, • Ability to create structured yet open creative experiences, • Strong communication and classroom management skills, • Enthusiasm for working in a nurturing Montessori inspired environment Preferred Qualifications • Degree or coursework in Art Education, Fine Arts, or related field, • Experience preparing student work for showcases or exhibitions, • Background in early childhood or elementary arts education, • CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain) Physical Requirements • Able to sit on the floor or at child-height tables while assisting with lessons., • Able to lift at least 25 pounds.
