Job Description Job Summary: To provide high quality patient-focused health care services to all patients within the scope of practice through physician orders in accordance with all Texas State Laws and Regulations and company policies. Maintain a current license through ARRT and Texas Medical Board with CT experience. Follows prescribed techniques for producing general and specific x-rays and CT scans for diagnostic purposes. Performs laboratory testing according to industry standards of practice and CLIA. Essential Job Functions: Every effort has been made to make your job description as complete as possible. Role Qualifications: • Graduate of an accredited program in Radiologic Technology, • Ability to work with patients of all ages, • Clinical experience performing CT scanning is documented, • Ability to perform CT procedures without supervision, • Ability to assist with specialized procedures involving sterile techniques, • Current ARRT License is in good standing, • Current Texas MRT License is in good standing, • Current BLS required, • Continuing education hours are required to keep up license renewal according to state specific guidelines, • Pass background check(s), • At least 2 years of Radiology management position in Free Standing Emergency Center, • Must have exceptional technical and clinical skills and possess the ability to guide team members when needed, • Knowledge of State and Federal requirements and regulations as well as core knowledge for Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) Radiology Duties: • Prepare patient for x-ray, CT scan, explain procedure to the patient and/or family, prepare room, equipment, and materials needed., • Position patient and arrange immobilization and support devices for patient, • Practice radiation protection techniques to limit exposure to patients, visitors, and medical staff., • Adjust equipment controls, determines proper voltage, and exposure time., • Administer routine x-ray exams., • Observe patient and machine during procedure. Report unusual occurrences and record patient’s condition., • Document patient chart with procedures performed., • Clean and disinfect radiology room and equipment, maintain and order supplies for radiology., • Perform radiology quality assurance tests and maintain records., • Assist with front-end registration staff or additional clerical duties as necessary., • Knowledge of specific and OSHA requirements regarding radiological procedures., • Ability to accurately read and write medical terminology., • Ability to work in a high-pressure environment while maintaining excellent patient care and customer service., • Ability to work all shifts including day, evening, weekends and holiday hours as needed., • Effective team player., • Detail oriented with exceptional interpersonal communication skills., • Efficient time management skills with ability to anticipate workflow and perform synchronous tasks., • Basic typing and computer proficiency, preferably experienced with Windows, Microsoft Office (Teams, Outlook, Excel), EMR/EMP systems, etc. Laboratory Duties: • Ability to learn and master immunoassay instrument procedures including running calibrations, controls, reagents, detergents, sample testing and all consumables., • Ability to learn and master simple daily immunoassay machine maintenance., • Complete training in the use of laboratory equipment and required documentation to comply with all OSHA and CLIA/COLA standards., • Patient interview and documentation relevant to completion of lab required paperwork., • Decanting of urine specimens into sample tubes and completion of immunoassay testing per protocols within standard operating procedures (SOPs) and/or instruction manual for laboratory machines., • Perform laboratory testing on patient samples per SOPs and instruction manuals, including proper daily controls and intermittent calibrations as required., • Perform corrective actions as required and simple routine maintenance of lab equipment as instructed in training, SOPs, and equipment instruction manuals., • Prepare report of machine assays in such a fashion that they can be placed into the patient’s medical records., • Contact equipment servicer or contracted technical consultant as needed for assistance if directed by the Lab Manager., • Dispose of hazardous and non-hazardous waste per OSHA guidelines., • Maintain proper inventory of consumables, office supplies, and paperwork necessary to continue daily operations., • Assist in Labs’ operations as directed by Lab Manager or other delegated authority. Such duties may include but are not limited to inventory management, accounting, and marketing., • Report immediately to the Nurse Manager and Lab Manager any clinical, equipment, or business issues that arise during operations that are unusual, hazardous, disruptive, or that require corrective actions., • Cover Lab Manager duties if needed as interim. Radiology Manager Specific Duties: • Responsible for site visits on a weekly basis with all 12 DFW facilities being worked at least once a quarter., • Responsible for rounding with POD Leads/Rad Leads to ensure the Radiology staff schedule is fully covered., • Ensure workload is evenly distributed among POD Leads and Rad Leads., • Ensure chart audits and shift reports are completed for all facilities and intervene as needed to drive compliance., • Use data from chart audits, misreads, patient complaints, staff feedback, and clinical coordinator audits to drive performance improvement and quality assurance., • Responsible for collaborating with clinical coordinator to ensure proper EMR documentation is being followed by Radiology staff and providing remedial training or corrective actions as needed to ensure compliance., • Clearly communicate and introduce new processes into the Radiology department and ensure compliance with all facilities., • Keep Nurse Managers and Directors apprised of patient complaints and any staff issues., • Ensure communications are clear and concise, follow up for compliance, and hold staff accountable for any shortcomings., • Serve as an expert resource to staff for clinical or technical questions, patient or customer concerns, and process questions., • Ensure Radiology bookkeeping is being handled correctly., • Ensure RSO binder is kept up to date Monthly., • Ensure Monthly Radiology QC is performed before the 10th of each month., • In conjunction with your POD Lead and Rad Leads, ensure CT QCs are performed/sent to PACS daily (Siemen’s) or weekly (GE)., • Ensure Dosimeter badges are read on 10th of each month and placed in RSO binder., • Ensure Dosimeters badges are uploaded, returned & replaced according to facility requirements every month and maintain counts for facilities to ensure we are compliant with regulations while avoiding excess and waste were possible., • Review of dosimeter reports for overexposures and report overexposures per regulations., • Ensure disinfection of Ultrasound TV probe is followed, logged according to SEC policy and regulations, and binders are up to date at all facilities., • Work required shifts per month as assigned and rotate sites to all DFW locations., • On-Call – Participate in monthly on-call rotation., • Has the ability to travel to all Surepoint locations including the corporate office, as well as the potential to travel to facilities outside of DFW when deemed necessary, • Required to attend occasional/quarterly in-person meetings at the corporate office., • Be active in interviewing Radiology applicants with POD Leads/Rad Leads and Nurse Managers., • Assist Nurse Mangers with gathering information for yearly evaluations, disciplinary actions, corrective action plans or any Radiology employee assistance needed., • Act as a witness and technical expert for leadership involving disciplinary actions and performance improvement plans for Radiology staff., • Orientation and training of new Radiology staff and leadership., • Coordinate cleaning/stocking/organizing/labeling of Radiology areas., • Notify Senior Director of Medical Operations of any supply needs, equipment issues, repairs needed, and any questions/concerns., • Will maintain RSO status and duties for all SEC facilities., • Yearly lead apron checks in January for all facilities., • Yearly EOC walkthrough in January for all facilities and then Quarterly for DFW facilities or as needed for pending inspections., • Ensure PMs and Physicist inspections are scheduled and completed per regulations and policy and placed in binder for all facilities., • Coordinate troubleshooting and repairs of rad equipment for all of SEC, submit estimates to Senior Director of Medical Operations for approval, and coordinate with accounts payable to ensure invoices are paid asap once work is completed and/or equipment has arrived and verified to be operational., • Ensure all Rad binders are kept UTD at all facilities., • Monthly meeting with the POD leaders to discuss issues, needs, processes, staffing and prepare Lead Meeting agenda., • Lead monthly meetings with POD leaders/Rad Leads, • Oversight of radiology scheduling, processes, requirements, and staffing for all SEC facilities., • Radiology staff will use their leads as the contact person to call out for shifts or to help with any scheduling needs and the Pod Leaders will act as a backup or escalation for any issues or needs., • POD Leads/Rad Leads must use the Radiology Manager as point of contact for call outs or scheduling issues Mon-Fri and weekend on-call staff Fri-Mon., • Assist in finding coverage for any unfilled shifts on the schedule and will help with coverage for any emergent callouts or surge help needed., • Radiology Manager will coordinate with Regional Clinical Directors for any agency needs, contracts, or OT approval., • Radiology Manager will cover POD leads for PTO or vacancies; POD leads will cover leads for PTO or vacancies., • Verify and document in End of Month (EOM) report that readiness for Rad inspections is being maintained or any issues found along with plan for resolution., • Submit End of Month (EOM) report to Senior Director of Medical Operations and President by the first Friday of the following Month.
