Job DescriptionSalary: Position Overview The Grid Modernization Solution Architect is a senior consulting role responsible for the end-to-end solution design, integration architecture, and technical leadership of grid operations technology programs across North America. This role owns the holistic solution vision spanning ADMS, OMS, SCADA, EMS, DERMS, GIS, and related enterprise systems, ensuring that individual platform implementations are cohesive, properly integrated, and aligned with each clients operational objectives and long-term grid modernization strategy. Unlike platform-specific leads who focus on the configuration and deployment of individual systems, the Solution Architect operates across the full technology stack. This role bridges the gap between client business requirements and technical execution, translating utility operational needs into integrated solution designs that account for: • Real-time grid monitoring, control, and optimization across transmission and distribution, • Cross-platform data flows and integration architecture (SCADA to ADMS, GIS to network model, AMI to OMS, DERMS to DMS), • IT/OT convergence, cybersecurity zoning, and NERC CIP compliance considerations, • Vendor solution evaluation, platform selection support, and technology roadmap development Roles and Responsibilities The responsibilities of the Grid Modernization Solution Architect role are as follows: Solution Architecture & Design • Define and own the integrated solution architecture for grid modernization programs, spanning ADMS, OMS, DMS, SCADA, EMS, DERMS, GIS, AMI, and supporting enterprise systems., • Develop solution blueprints, reference architectures, and integration design documents that serve as the technical foundation for program delivery., • Lead architecture design workshops with utility stakeholders, facilitating consensus across business operations, IT, OT, and vendor teams., • Ensure end-to-end traceability from business requirements through solution design, integration specifications, and test scenarios., • Evaluate vendor platform capabilities and constraints, providing objective technical assessments to guide client platform selection and procurement decisions., • Understand how integration interfaces fit within and support the overall Solution Architecture, including system interactions, data flows, and endtoend operational processes., • Collaborate with client IT/OT staff to ensure integration considerations are aligned with architectural principles, design decisions, and solutionlevel outcomes., • Define non-functional requirements including system performance, availability, scalability, disaster recovery, and cybersecurity architecture. Technical Delivery & Advisory • Serve as the primary technical authority on grid modernization engagements, providing guidance to project teams, platform-specific leads, and client stakeholders., • Act as trusted technical advisor to utility executives, engineering leadership, and control room management on grid operations technology strategy., • Oversee technical quality across concurrent workstreams, ensuring consistency of approach and adherence to architecture standards., • Provide technical oversight during key program milestones including Factory Acceptance Testing, Site Acceptance Testing, integration testing, cutover planning, and go-live., • Support development of project technical deliverables including design documents, configuration specifications, test strategies, and operational readiness assessments., • Mentor and develop junior consultants, solution leads, and integration specialists within the Grid Modernization practice. Pre-Sales & Practice Development • Support business development efforts by contributing to proposals, RFP/RFI responses, statements of work, and client presentations., • Conduct technology assessments and develop grid modernization roadmaps for prospective and existing clients., • Represent the Grid Modernization practice in industry forums, client workshops, and vendor partner engagements., • Contribute to practice intellectual property including reference architectures, reusable solution templates, white papers, and lessons-learned repositories., • Support the development of new service offerings and capability expansions aligned with evolving market demand. Continuous Improvement & Industry Leadership Maintain current knowledge of: • ADMS, OMS, DMS, SCADA, EMS, and DERMS platform capabilities, release roadmaps, and vendor competitive landscape, • Grid modernization trends including DER integration, microgrids, grid-edge intelligence, and distribution system operator (DSO) models, • IT/OT convergence, OT cybersecurity frameworks (NERC CIP, IEC 62351, NIST CSF), and utility cloud adoption patterns To effectively respond to client and project needs, role and responsibilities will vary and may include additional responsibilities not listed. Skills and Experience Technical Experience • Extensive experience in utility grid operations technology, including direct involvement in ADMS, OMS, SCADA, EMS, DMS, or DERMS implementation programs., • Demonstrated experience designing integrated solution architectures across multiple grid operations platforms in a consulting or vendor delivery context., • Strong expertise in computer hardware, OS administration, virtualization, networking, security, IT operations and automation, and data/database management., • Direct experience with at least one leading OT/grid operations platforms (e.g., Schneider Electric ADMS/EMS, GE Vernova GridOS, Oracle NMS, OSI Monarch/eTerra, ABB, Siemens, CGI)., • Familiarity with IT/OT network architecture, cybersecurity zoning, and NERC CIP compliance as it relates to grid operations systems., • Experience leading solution architecture for large-scale ($10M+) grid modernization programs., • Prior experience supporting vendor evaluation, platform selection, and technology roadmap development for utility clients., • Experience with cloud and hybrid deployment architectures for grid operations systems (Azure, AWS, or private cloud). Working Relationships • Internal: Collaborate with Grid Modernization practice leadership, program managers, platform-specific leads (OMS, SCADA/EMS, GIS, DERMS), network model engineers, integration specialists, and other Mosaic consultants, • External: Work directly with utility executive sponsors, engineering leadership, control room operations, IT/OT architecture teams, distribution planning, and field operations, as well as OMS/ADMS/SCADA/EMS software vendors, system integrators, and implementation partners Education Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering or computer science discipline, or equivalent experience. The salary range listed reflects a good faith estimate of the compensation for this role at the time of posting. A reasonable national base salary range for this position is $125,000.00 - $205,000.00 USD annually, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. This position is eligible to participate in a bonus program of up to 10% of annual compensation, subject to individual and organizational performance.
