Job Description Position Information Job Title: Department/Location: QMS Manager QM - MGM Reports To Title: Work Schedule: QMS+R&D Director Normally 8:00AM-5:00PM Monday through Friday; Work other hours and weekends as required Job Purpose To support the effective implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS) across the plants, ensuring compliance with GFSI (BRC Food, BRC Packaging, FSSC22000) and ISO (9001, 14001, 45001) standards. ISO5001 is a plus. To coordinate QMS activities, internal and external audits (including audits to suppliers, audit from customers), and the resolution of corrective actions while promoting a culture of quality, food safety, safety, and regulatory compliance. To be responsible for the Food Safety Regulatory aspects of the FGSI standards, respond to customers’ requests, and third-party audits for regulatory compliance (FDA and, State regulations). A general knowledge of US and MERCOSUR regulations is a plus. Duties and Responsibilities • Perform the activities to maintain the certifications as needed, including internal audits, document and record review, and control, inspection, walkouts, etc., • Good communication skills with key personnel and managers in the facility. Good communication with the QM Team., • Non-standard tasks as required., • Work closely with the EHS Manager and others regarding ISO45001 and ISO14001., • Work closely with the Quality Manager and others regarding ISO9001., • Planning the required laboratory testing for regulatory compliance of product (i.e. LAB-01, heavy metals, microbiological, migration, etc.). Promote a culture of food safety., • Fulfill customer documentation requests; examples include requests regarding FDA compliance, migration testing, labeling recommendations, organic, non-GMO, food safety, facility information, etc., • Manage the third-party companies having requests in our customers’ behalf (i.e. Foodlogiq/Tyson, etc.), • Apply and support all corporate initiatives in QMS, Customer support issues Qualifications Education: • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Food Science, Chemistry, Industrial Technology, or a related field., • (Preferred) master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Quality Auditor, Certified Quality Engineer). Experience: • Minimum 3 + years of experience in quality management systems within a manufacturing or food industry environment., • Proven experience with ISO standards: ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001., • Proven experience with BRC (British Retail Consortium) Food Safety Standard implementation and audits., • Strong understanding of Quality Management Systems (QMS) and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., CAPA, RCA, FMEA)., • Internal and external audit management experience., • Strong knowledge of regulatory and certification requirements for food safety, environmental, and occupational health & safety. FDA/USDA, required. EU, MERCOSUR, preferred., • HACCP/HARA trained., • Specialized knowledge: knowledge of food safety standards (BRC, SQF, FSSC22000), FDA/USDA food regulations, import/export, global regulatory knowledge for packaging and food. Required Competencies: • Fluent in English. (written and spoken). Spanish is a plus. The interaction with external auditors, customers, government officials, and third-party in the USA and abroad are mainly conducted in English. This includes teaching, writing documents, reading and interpreting regulatory codes, etc., • Decision Making - Ability to assess complex quality, safety, and compliance issues, evaluate alternatives, and make timely, data-driven decisions that align with company standards and regulatory requirements., • Communication - Effectively conveys information, expectations, and updates across all levels of the organization—from production teams to senior leadership—ensuring clarity, alignment, and engagement in quality initiatives., • Adaptability - Demonstrates flexibility and resilience in managing changes to quality systems, certification requirements, and business priorities while maintaining compliance and driving continuous improvement., • Job Knowledge - Possesses in-depth expertise in quality management systems, relevant ISO and BRC standards, and manufacturing processes, applying this knowledge to ensure regulatory compliance and operational excellence., • Problem Solving - Identifies root causes of non-conformities and quality issues through structured analysis and implements sustainable corrective and preventive actions to drive long-term improvements., • Teamwork - Collaborates effectively with cross-functional teams, fostering a culture of shared responsibility for quality, safety, and continuous improvement across departments and locations. Excellent organizational and project management skills., • Leadership - Inspires and guides teams toward a shared vision of excellence. Working Conditions • This is an office position 50% and production floor 50%., • Depending on audits, training requirements, up to 25% of domestic and international travel may be required. Note: depending on the audit schedules, the need to travel on weekends or with extremely short notice may be required., • To understand the process, conduct internal and external audits, walkouts, walkthroughs, training require being on the production floor up to 50% of the time., • Work with auditors, suppliers and customers., • Manage sensitive, confidential information., • Adhere to GMPs and EHS requirements. Physical Requirements Ability to work in an industrial environment (exposure to heat, noise, smell), climb stairs, carry small loads.
