American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN ED - Emergency Department for a travel nursing job in Montgomery, Alabama. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: ED - Emergency Department, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 11/10/2025, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 48 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, nights, • Work in a 71-bed Emergency Department within a Level II Trauma Center, • Very high acuity, functions as a Level I trauma environment, • Patient population includes multi-system trauma, STEMI, stroke, CHF, COPD, GI, GU, OB/GYN, pediatrics, and psychiatric cases, • Patient ratios: 1:4 in ER, 1:5 for med-surg holds, 1:3 for ICU holds, • Shifts available: 7a-7p, 7p-7a, 11a-11p, 3p-3a on a 4-week scheduling cycle, • Weekend rotation required every other weekend or 4 weekend days per block schedule, • No floating required, • No on-call responsibilities, • Uses Cerner for EMR, Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Spacelabs monitors, • Responsibilities include caring for a diverse, high-acuity emergency patient population in a trauma setting, • Support staff includes CNAs (1:12), receptionist/HUC, charge nurse, phlebotomy until 3:00am, IV/VAT team, and hospitalists, • Orientation consists of 24 hours classroom and 24 hours on the unit for new or returning travelers gone more than 1 year, • Holiday coverage required for one major and one minor holiday per policy; blackout dates apply, • Solid color scrubs are required, • Parking is available in the parking garage, • COVID vaccination is not required for employment\n \n Requirements\n, • Active AL or compact RN license required, • Minimum 2 years of critical care experience (ICU or ER), with the most recent year in a Level II ER, • Level II Trauma Center or higher experience required, • Experience with Cerner or Epic EMR required, • Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS, and Secure/CPI (nationally recognized/JACHO accepted), • Proficient with trach care, vent care, ICU drips, chest tube management, arterial lines, CVL, PICC, midline, port, foley caths, orthopedic devices, bipap/hi-flow, and continuous bladder irrigation, • First-time travelers considered with meeting all experience and EMR requirements, • Previous permanent staff must wait 6 months before being eligible for travel positions, • Must reside more than 60 miles from the facility\n Benefits\n, • High Pay and Bonuses, • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options, • 401(k) Plan, • Weekly Payroll Deposit, • Free Online CEUs, • Generous Housing Allowance, • Travel and Licensure Reimbursements, • Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
