Position Summary The Assistant Kitchen Manager (AKM) supports the Kitchen Manager in leading daily Back of House (BOH) operations and ensuring consistent, high-quality food execution. The AKM helps maintain a clean, safe, compliant kitchen environment, trains and supports BOH team members, and upholds Ggiata standards across prep, line execution, sanitation, and organization. This role serves as a key BOH leader, stepping in for the Kitchen Manager as needed and helping build a strong, engaged, high-performing kitchen team. Benefits Include: • Health, Vision, & Dental Benefits, • Competitive Salary & Tip Share, • Complimentary Shift Meal & Team Member Discounts, • Growth Opportunities as Ggiata continues to expand, • Lead daily prep and line execution to deliver food that consistently meets Ggiata standards, while upholding a clean, organized, and food-safe kitchen environment., • Support food safety and compliance by completing temperature checks, labeling, logs, FIFO rotation, sanitation routines, and equipment cleanliness., • Train and coach BOH team members in real time, reinforcing expectations, safety practices, and kitchen standards while modeling professionalism and hospitality., • Assist with inventory counts, portion control, waste tracking, par levels, and delivery organization to support food cost goals., • Monitor product quality and freshness, taste items daily, and escalate quality or operational concerns promptly., • Communicate proactively with FOH, the Kitchen Manager, and the General Manager to support smooth service and resolve issues quickly., • Step into leadership during peak shifts or in the absence of the Kitchen Manager, helping maintain accountability, structure, and a positive team culture., • Perform other duties as assigned. What You’ll Need to Succeed • Experience: minimum 1-2 years of restaurant leadership experience, ideally as an Assistant Kitchen Manager or similar role in hospitality., • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to lead teams, and collaborate across departments. Conversational Spanish is a plus., • Adaptability: Comfortable navigating changing priorities, fast-paced environments, and evolving business needs., • Mobility: Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and climb stairs for extended periods, often up to 10 hours per day. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and carry items at least 10 feet, along with performing other physical tasks required in a fast-paced kitchen environment., • Passion & Endurance: A commitment to hospitality and the ability to work long or physically demanding shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays., • Systems Knowledge: Familiarity with operational systems such as prep lists, pars, ordering platforms, inventory tools, vendor management, and basic equipment maintenance.
