Job Description Dining & Banquet Server JOB DESCRIPTION Position Title: Server Pay: $15.00/hour + tips Related Titles: Food and Beverage Server Reports to: Assistant Manager; Clubhouse Manager; Director of Catering and Events; Service Director Supervises: Not a supervisory position Position Summary: Provide food and beverage services to club members and guests. This is a full or part-time hourly position. Position Characteristics: Service employees must excel in a fast-paced food service environment and have a positive attitude while providing exceptional customer service. Must have strong communication skills and present a friendly and upbeat attitude; maintain a customer-first approach. Be able to think through problems and/or unexpected situations; multi-task and recognize when customers need plates cleared or drinks refilled without being asked. Know the menu, and specialties and make honest recommendations to members. Essential Job Functions: • Sets up side stations and performs assigned (prep) work, • Provides immediate attention to all members and guests upon seating, • Distributes food and wine/drink menus; answers questions; make suggestions, • Takes member and guest orders; places orders with kitchen; informs cooks about special cooking instructions, • Carry food, silverware, and/or linen on trays, or use carts to carry trays, • Assemble food on trays to serve; procure items from each necessary station, • Check to ensure member and guest satisfaction; replenish water and butter as necessary, • Removes soiled dishes and linens, • Verify the accuracy of prices, state and federal taxes and other charges on bills, • Uphold a professional demeanor while interacting, assisting and serving all members and staff, • Ability to use point-of-sale and online reservation systems, • Knowledge of the Club’s high standards for service and operating procedures, • Knowledge of proper table service etiquette, event set-up, table sizes and the appropriate use of space, and knowledge of the table settings for formal daytime and evening events, • Use discretion, work independently and as a team; take initiative Additional Responsibilities and Job Requirements: • Be detail-oriented, able to prioritize and multitask, • Be organized and responsible, • Be courteous with all patrons and staff, • Maintain a positive, professional manner at all times, • Possess a strong knowledge of M.A.T.C.H. (M.A.T.C.H.: Membership comes first; Attitude is always positive; Teamwork; Challenge - go above and beyond; Honesty – always do the right thing), • Prior experience in hotels, resorts, or country clubs required., • Ability to take and/or give direction Preferred Education and/or Experience: Previous experience serving and/or catering in a restaurant or food service environment (preference for fine dining). Prior experience in hotels, resorts, or country clubs required. Appearance and Grooming: All employees are required to follow the procedures set forth by the associate handbook regarding proper workplace appearance. Employees must adhere to their department’s specific uniform requirements. Language Skills: Ability to speak clearly and concisely to maintain proper, effective communication with all members and staff. Reasoning Abilities: Be able to problem-solve; be flexible. Establish and uphold effective working relationships with others. Work quickly and accurately, both independently and as a part of a team. Exercise good judgment, perform detailed tasks; understand and follow instructions. Physical Demands: This position routinely requires sitting, standing, walking, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, holding, twisting, reaching, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to lift at least fifty (50) pounds. Work Environment: The noise level in the workplace is usually moderate, characteristic of fine-dining restaurants or country clubs. The work environment is comparable to other food service industries and restaurant environments, but may include atypical or extraordinary conditions.
