Position Summary The Senior Customs Entry Writer will have knowledge of entry writing, ability to classify according to the HTS, participate government agencies clearances (PGA), CFR 19, and Customs Regulations gained by 1+ years of experience working for a Customs Broker. This individual will have the authority to sign documents under eShipping Power of Attorney and will serve as a subject matter expert within the import team. Training team members will also be of importance in this role. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Duties include but are not limited to the following: • Request or Compile necessary import documentation including customs invoices, certificate of origin, and cargo-control documents., • Advise customers on import and export restrictions, tariff systems, insurance requirements, quotas, or other customs-related matters., • Quote duty and tax rates on goods to be imported based on federal tariffs., • Classify goods according to the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States with special attention to commodities that are subject to OGA’s, Antidumping/Countervailing, Quota/Visa, etc., • Clear goods through customs with the knowledge of entry types and the ability to prepare required US Customs forms including CF3461 and CF7501., • Assist clients in obtaining bonds., • Develop and Maintain relationships with officials in various agencies to facilitate clearance of goods through customs and quarantine., • Pay, or arrange for payment of, taxes and duties on shipments., • Daily follow up on documentation discrepancy issues which requires the ability to troubleshoot and communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with customers and foreign origins, • Ensure compliance with all government regulations and internal procedures., • Provide Support to Licensed Customs Broker, eShipping Import team, and other outside freight forwarders., • Handle more complex entries including FDA, USDA, consolidations, border clearances, and brokerage only customers., • Understand and perform freight forwarding duties, including paying charges and handling final deliveries., • Knowledge of INCO terms, Power of Attorney, Foreign Power of Attorney, 5106., • Ability to handle customs requests including CBP Form 28 and CBP Form 29, protests and petitions., • Have an understanding of Statement and Accounting Reconciliation., • Authority to Sign Documents under eShipping Power of Attorney., • Train team members within the Customs team, • Other administrative duties as assigned Required Skills and Abilities To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
