American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN PCU - Progressive Care Unit Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Omaha, Nebraska. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: PCU - Progressive Care Unit, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 03/30/2026, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, nights, • Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview • Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs, • Hours: 36 hrs/wk, • Start Date: Mar 30, 2026, • Length: 13 weeks, • PCU (stepdown) unit in an acute care, Level I Trauma Center, • 55-bed unit located on the 4th Floor East Wing, • Adult patient population; pediatric patients are rare and are 15 years of age or older, • Common diagnoses include CVA, TIA, shortness of breath, COVID, subdural hematoma, and generalized weakness, • Common medications and drips include PCA pumps for pain management, cardizem, and insulin, • RN-to-patient ratio of 1:4 on both day and night shifts, • 12-hour night shifts (1830–0630), • Every other weekend required, • EMR: Epic, • IV pumps: Alaris, • Floating required, ideally to med/surg areas based on highest unit need, • 13-week contractRequirements, • Active NE or Compact (NLC) RN license — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses will not be accepted, • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS — all must be active; pending certifications will not be accepted, • Telemetry competency required, • Epic EMR experience preferred, • A valid driver's license is required for consideration and will be used to verify the candidate's permanent address, • Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehireAdditional Information, • Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, as determined by the address on their driver's license, • Candidates may not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and/or Dignity Health, within the past year — candidates who worked PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered, • During orientation, RNs must pass an open-book, pass/fail exam with a minimum score of 90%; failure to pass results in contract termination, • Navy blue scrubs required; artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas, • Support staff includes nursing assistants, charge nurses, an educator, care managers, social workers, dieticians, and PT/OT, • Mechanical lifts are available in every other room, • Hourly rounding and patient responsiveness are key focus areas on this unit With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
