What You’ll Do: The Medical Assistant position is responsible for coordinating and assisting the provider to ensure safe quality/cost-effective service and care for the people within the practice population. Key Responsibilities: • Collects patient assessment data to include height, weight, vital signs, chief complaint/symptoms, and current medications for assessment by licensed staff., • Prepares the patient for provider evaluation by obtaining specimens, positioning for exams, listing medications, and assisting during exams and procedures., • Maintains work area, exam treatment, and lab in a clean, safe manner; restock with supplies as needed., • Assists with lab procedures by collecting urine specimens, collecting, and preparing blood samples for reference lab; labeling all specimens with accurate patient ID as ordered by the physician., • Documents patient information in the medical record to include updated treatment procedures, medication refills, test results, and patient concerns, etc., • Assists and processes all scripts, referrals, and authorizations as needed., • Manages flow of patient care, while ensuring phones are being answered, and appointments are as efficient as possible., • Schedules patients for injections and infusions., • Orders supplies and medications. Check both into and out of inventory., • Performs diagnostic testing procedures., • Assists with other medical office functions as needed., • Individual duties may vary depending on the workflow and work volume in the office.
