GTI operates high-mix, engineered-to-order manufacturing environments where accurate product definition, cost visibility, and supplier readiness are critical to successful execution. Position Overview GTI Energy is seeking an Advanced Sourcing Engineer to serve as a technical bridge between Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain. This role is heavily focused on Bill of Materials (BOM) creation, development, and accuracy, as well as the development of technically complete RFQ packages to support sourcing, cost modeling, and supplier engagement. The Advanced Sourcing Engineer is a technical role requiring a Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering background. This position owns product definition from a sourcing perspective, ensuring BOMs are structured correctly, reflect design intent, and can be executed by suppliers and internal manufacturing teams. Key Responsibilities BOM Creation, Development & Ownership • Create, develop, and maintain multi-level Bills of Materials (BOMs) for engineered-to-order and modular products, • Translate engineering designs, drawings, and models into accurate, executable BOM structures, • Ensure BOMs reflect correct part numbers, descriptions, materials, quantities, and revision control, • Partner with Engineering to align BOMs with design intent and manufacturing requirements, • Support BOM validation during NPI, prototype builds, and production ramp, • Develop complete RFQ packages for fabricated, machined, and purchased components, • Compile technical documentation including drawings, specifications, BOM extracts, and quality requirements, • Define scope, assumptions, and technical requirements for supplier quoting, • Support supplier Q&A during RFQ cycles and clarify technical requirements, • Act as a technical resource supporting sourcing decisions across fabrication, machining, and assemblies, • Partner with Manufacturing Engineering to ensure BOMs align with build strategy and routing, • Identify design-for-manufacturability and design-for-cost opportunities, • Support cost breakdown analysis tied to BOM structure and sourcing strategy, • Help identify cost drivers at the component and assembly level, • Support make/buy analysis and supplier selection decisions, • Support new product introduction programs from early design through production readiness, • Ensure BOMs and sourcing documentation are complete prior to production release, • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related technical discipline, • 5+ years of experience in engineering, manufacturing engineering, or sourcing engineering roles, • Strong experience creating, structuring, and managing Bills of Materials, • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications, • Experience developing RFQ packages for fabricated, machined, or industrial components, • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes including fabrication, machining, and assembly, • Experience supporting engineered-to-order or modular manufacturing environments, • Experience working with ERP/MRP systems and BOM management tools, • Background in fabrication, structural steel, enclosures, or industrial equipment, • Experience supporting cost modeling or supplier cost analysis, • Experience working cross-functionally with Engineering, Supply Chain, and Operations
