Job Details: Schedule: Eastern standard time 2 am-10:30 am Location: Tampa FL 33617. Contract Length: 3 + Months + Possible extension Pay Range: $18/hr to $19.78/hr *Pay offered is based on experience, expertise, credentialing, and education. Basic Purpose Pre-Analytical Assistant I is responsible for general support functions within the Technical Operations Department. Position Requirements • Minimal data entry skills, • Good organizational skills, • Understanding of specimen types related to test(s) ordered, • Clinical department requirements with regard to specimen types and quantity needed for each test, specimen handling, and delivery, • Understanding of compliance regulations related to test ordering, which may change on a daily basis, • Flexibility and willingness to adapt to change and pursue continuous improvement, • Commitment to fulfilling internal and external customer requirements while carrying out routine responsibilities, • Willingness to actively contribute to a team-based working environment, • Ability and willingness to support departmental staffing needs on weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime, • Sorting, • Racking, • Pickup and delivery of specimens to the laboratory, • Specimen storage (this position might also be trained to run the sorters in archive mode), • Centrifugation, • Aliquoting Job Accountabilities • Demonstrates ability to learn assigned job duties and develops understanding of how Tech Ops and Specimen Processing functions work together and impact technical departments and result quality, • Identifies problems with specimen types or missing information related to sorting, racking, centrifuging, delivery, and storage; resolves or escalates appropriately, • Demonstrates understanding of compliance policies related to test ordering, including researching test order information using translation tables, computer systems, and directory of services, • Meets quality and production standards within 6 months of completing training, • Completes all required documentation clearly, legibly, and within assigned timeframes, • Maintains punctuality and follows attendance guidelines; supports team during coworker absences, • Learns additional functions within Tech Ops and Specimen Processing for progression, • Performs other duties as assigned Position Requirements / Environment • Handles multiple tasks simultaneously in a production environment, • Communicates effectively with all levels of staff, both verbally and in writing, • Maintains composure under pressure, • Exercises good judgment when resolving problems, • Adheres to Client's core values, safety, compliance, and work process policies, • Works in a biohazard environment in compliance with safety requirements, • Maintains a clean and organized work area; complies with 5S workplace standards, • Able to sit, stand, or walk for long periods; lift up to 50 lbs.; maneuver carts and/or racks with specimens, • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills that foster a positive working environment, • Demonstrates flexibility in work assignments and ability to adapt to change, • Must have flexibility with work schedule Education, Skills, and Experience • High School Diploma or GED, • Medical background preferred, including medical terminology applicable to a clinical laboratory, • Previous experience in a production environment preferred, • Prefer familiarity with mainframe computers Additional Job Details • Must be available to work as scheduled, be on time, and complete full shifts, • Excessive absenteeism or tardiness will result in termination Work Environment Notes • Heavy production site with high-volume, repetitive tasks, • Medical terminology is a plus but not required, • May require wearing lab coat, mask, goggles, gloves, and other protective equipment when handling samples Language Requirement • Must have excellent understanding of the English language, both spoken and written Preferred • Bilingual candidates who speak Spanish are strongly preferred (English proficiency is still required) Pride-Health offers eligible employee’s comprehensive healthcare coverage (medical, dental, and vision plans), supplemental coverage (accident insurance, critical illness insurance and hospital indemnity), 401(k)-retirement savings, life & disability insurance, an employee assistance program, legal support, auto, home insurance, pet insurance and employee discounts with preferred vendors.
