American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN ED - Emergency Department for a travel nursing job in Omaha, Nebraska. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: ED - Emergency Department, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 12/08/2025, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, nights, • Work in a Level I Trauma Emergency Department within an acute care hospital, • Unit includes 20 beds, 5 trauma bays, 10 observation beds, hallway and fast track beds, and 3 separate triage beds, • Patient population includes trauma, sepsis, chest pain, shortness of breath, and stroke cases, • Typical nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4 in zones, 1:6 in Fast Track, 1:5 in observation, and 1:1 for ICU/trauma cases, • Common drips used are those seen in Level I trauma ERs, • Uses Epic EMR; RNs must read and interpret monitor strips, • 12-hour night shifts; shift times include 1900–0700, • Weekend and holiday shifts scheduled based on department needs, • Floating required to OBS unit and freestanding Creighton ER at least once a week, • 1 week onboarding including 2 shifts at primary ER and 1 shift at urgent care location, • In-house security staff are present 24/7 in the ER, • Staffed with ED physicians, mid-levels, charge nurse, and support staff including nurse aides and techs, • Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to remove will result in contract termination, • Unit is fast-paced and high-acuity with comprehensive support staff present each shift, • Floating to observation unit and freestanding ER is required at least once per week, • Pass/Fail open book skills exam is required during orientation; failure to achieve a 90% will result in termination, • Only 7 or fewer days of time off will be approved per 13-week contract, and must be requested up front, • First-time travelers are eligible for consideration\n \n Requirements\n, • Active NE or compact RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted, • Minimum 2 years of ER nurse experience required, • Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications required; NRP preferred, • Experience in high-acuity, trauma level I emergency settings required, • Ability to interpret monitor strips is required, • Must be able to pass a skills exam during orientation with a score of 90% or higher, • Must provide driver's license for proof of residence, • Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible, • Cannot currently be employed (FT, PT, or PRN) at any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility, nor within the past year, • Professional references from a supervisor within the last 12 months and a supervisor or peer within the last 3 years required\n Benefits\n, • High Pay and Bonuses, • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options, • 401(k) Plan, • Weekly Payroll Deposit, • Free Online CEUs, • Generous Housing Allowance, • Travel and Licensure Reimbursements, • Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
