Job DescriptionBenefits: • Competitive salary, • Flexible schedule, • Opportunity for advancement, • Training & development The PA supports the residents by maintaining CANs mission and core values, enforcing all aspects described in the Shelters Resident Handbook including programming, meals, chores, services, etc. This position reports directly to the Shelter Assistant Manager. The PA will provide essential 24-hour awake coverage and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the shelter. This position is responsible for the welfare, safety and comfort, as well as daily support to the shelter residents. The PA will provide information to callers seeking shelter, resources, or referrals. The PA works closely with clients, case managers, and other essential shelter staff to ensure that residents needs are met with dignity and care, empowering them to transition toward stability and self-sufficiency. Essential Functions • Welcomes guests and visitors by greeting them, in person or on the telephone, answering or inquiries and referring to the appropriate person., • Maintains and provides a safe, clean, and supportive community to help stabilize the homeless residents by promoting self-worth, dignity, and respect., • Maintains safe and clean reception area and facility by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs., • Receives donations and stores in designated areas., • Contributes to the decision-making process regarding any disciplinary issues. Ensures and supervises residents in completing their assigned chores, attending classes, meetings, appointments, and/or other required services., • Monitors and supervises the residents including the residents rooms, lobby, dining room, meeting rooms, and shelter grounds., • Stays awake and alert during their on-duty hours., • Contributes to maintaining a clean shelter environment by stocking the lavatories, stripping beds upon clients exiting and preparing totes and beds for new resident intakes., • Completes Staff Shift Check List and submits a completed shift report via email prior to the end of their work shift., • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Ensures an overall smooth operating facility., • Assists with and attends special events held by the shelter and CAN as needed., • Supports a welcoming and positive environment for volunteers and works with them effectively., • Completes incident reports when necessary., • Attend staff meetings as scheduled. Other duties as assigned. Specific Duties, • Sort through incoming mail and packages daily and distribute as outlined in shelter procedures., • Keep track of the shelter supplies and supply stocking., • Monitor medication lockers and assist residents as needed., • Keep stocked the laundry detergent and bleach as well as cleaning supplies in the designated storage closet. Ensures an adequate supply of toilet paper, paper towels and liquid soap in the designated areas., • Stocks and organizes routinely (forms, supplies, etc.). Other specific duties as assigned. Required Experience, • High School Diploma or GED required., • Ability and willingness to relate with others in a respectful manner and work well as a team member., • Ability to maintain professional boundaries with shelter residents and refer appropriately to case management or shelter management., • Sensitivity to the needs and concerns of persons who are mentally ill, materially poor or homeless, and the ability to be comfortable working with persons of all socioeconomic, religious, and ethnic backgrounds in a non-judgmental manner., • An understanding and a respect for the principles of confidentiality., • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work in compliance with quality standards and deadlines.
