About the Role Maycomb Capital is seeking a highly strategic, execution-oriented Director of Finance & Operations to lead the firm’s financial management and operational infrastructure. This role is ideal for an experienced finance and operations professional who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment and is excited to build scalable systems and processes within a growing impact private credit platform. The Director of Finance & Operations will serve as a key partner to firm leadership and oversee financial planning, treasury management, fund operations, regulatory coordination, and firmwide operational initiatives across Maycomb’s management company and multiple fund entities. This individual will play a central role in strengthening the firm’s infrastructure as Maycomb continues to scale its impact investing business. The ideal candidate combines strong financial acumen with operational leadership, exceptional project management skills, and the ability to operate both strategically and tactically in a lean, collaborative environment. This role spans finance, fund operations, and firm infrastructure management, while partnering closely with external service providers, including Maycomb’s fund administrator, audit firm, legal counsel, and other operational service providers. fast-paced, evolving environment, • Experienced in financial reporting, fund operations, budgeting, treasury management, and cash flow planning, • Has a strong systems and process orientation, • Effective at collaborating across teams and managing external partners and service providers, • Curious about investing, impact, and the role of capital in driving positive change, • Excited to build and refine infrastructure within a growing mission-driven investment firm Responsibilities include: Finance, Operations & Strategic Planning • Lead firmwide budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes across the management company and multiple fund entities, • Oversee budget-to-actual reporting, cash flow forecasting, liquidity planning, and financial performance analysis, • Oversee treasury operations, including banking relationships, cash positioning, payment workflows, and financial controls across fund and management company accounts, • Develop deep expertise in Maycomb’s fund structures and ensure financial reporting accurately reflects underlying operations and investment activity, • Coordinate quarterly investor reporting processes together with the investor relations team and fund administrators, • Partner with the investment team and fund administrator to manage capital calls, distributions, financing activity, and portfolio cash flows, • Design and implement scalable operational processes, financial infrastructure, and internal controls to support firm growth and institutional best practices, • Identify opportunities for operational efficiencies, process improvements, automation, and enhanced systems infrastructure as the firm scales, • Support strategic initiatives, business planning, and firm growth initiatives alongside senior leadership Audit, Tax & Regulatory Oversight • Oversee the annual audit, tax, and regulatory compliance calendar across all legal entities and investment vehicles, • Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, fund administrators, and legal counsel to ensure timely and accurate filings, • Ensure all entities remain in good standing and compliant with applicable regulatory and reporting requirements, • Manage the collection, review, and organization of materials required for audits, tax filings, lender reporting, and investor reporting processes, • Assist in the ongoing development of operational policies, controls, and compliance-related procedures Firm Operations & Infrastructure • Expected to manage 1-2 employees, including the Executive Assistant & Office Manager as well as the Finance & Operations Analyst., • Oversee operational processes supporting portfolio management activities, including invoicing, loan servicing coordination, and reporting workflows, • Manage key operational vendors and outsourced service providers, including the fund administrator, IT managed service providers, cybersecurity consultants, insurance brokers, and other business partners, • Partner with external technology and cybersecurity providers to support secure, scalable, and effective firm infrastructure and operational risk management practices, • Lead internal operational initiatives to improve systems, workflows, documentation, and organizational effectiveness, • Oversee operational risk management processes, including annual insurance renewals and vendor compliance requirements, • Serve as a cross-functional operational leader supporting collaboration across investment, investor relations, and leadership teams, • Take on additional strategic and operational projects as the firm evolves Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, business, or a related field, • 5–10+ years of relevant experience in private equity, private credit, investment management, fund operations, fund accounting, or related fields, • Experience managing a team, • Strong understanding of fund structures, investment operations, treasury management, and financial reporting within alternative asset management, • Experience managing audits, tax processes, regulatory filings, and external service providers across multiple entities or funds, • Experience working closely with fund administrators and outsourced operational partners, • Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills, • Excellent organizational, project management, and communication skills, • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution in a lean environment, • High degree of professionalism, judgment, and discretion when handling sensitive financial information, • Positive attitude, collaborative approach, and commitment to contributing to a mission-driven organization, • Interest in impact investing and Maycomb’s mission Compensation & Benefits The expected base salary range for this role is $140,000–$170,000, commensurate with experience. The Director will also be eligible for an annual bonus and potential long-term incentive participation.
