The Nurse Practitioner will provide medical oversight, medical education for staff, and psychiatric services including Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) for substance use disorders for adults and youth in residential settings, medication evaluations and individual and group medication management. Identify potential physical health concerns impacting the individual's ability to engage in treatment. Consult and collaborate with PCPs and other healthcare providers in the overall health management of consumers. Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required: • RN degree (or equivalent), master's degree in nursing, FNP-BC, PNP-BC, or ENP-BC certification, Prescriptive Authority licensure by the Colorado Board of Nursing, and DEA certificate required., • Experience working with acute and chronic medical conditions, and substance use disorders in adolescents and adults with co-occurring psychiatric disorders, • 3-5 years' experience working in primary care, emergency medicine, and/or addictions medicine, • Provides diagnostic/medication evaluations, and individual and group medication management. Provide consumers with all necessary medication education and psychoeducation., • Consults to nurses in triaging phone calls, addressing medication problems, and requests for refills. Responds promptly to nurse questions or requests., • Orders and monitors appropriate laboratory tests at clinically indicated frequency., • Monitors and reviews consumers’ charts for medication/medical issues with appropriate follow-up., • Provides crisis support for clinical emergencies at clinical sites., • Attends mandatory training and complies with individualized training plans if required., • Reports high risk/problem cases and solicits consultation and help as needed. Attends supervision at times and intervals agreed upon with supervisor and incorporates supervision into clinical practice and job performance., • Satisfactorily completes 90% of peer review charts needing corrections within 14 calendar days (only those areas for which psychiatrists are responsible)., • Submits 90% of all SRFs/Initial Evaluation/Progress-to-Date forms within 3 working days (or within the team-specific time frame)., • Completes 95% of all paperwork by the due date., • Ensures that fee collections meet the team's goal as determined by Chief Medical Officer and Chief Clinical and Operations Officer., • Provides medication-group treatment as determined by Chief Medical Officer., • Meets caseload requirements and required number of consumer service hours as determined by Chief Medical Officer and Chief Clinical and Operations Officer., • Engages consumers and their families in the treatment process and goal setting. Identifies/provides appropriate intervention for risk factors including lethality. Works constructively with consumer to reach agreed upon outcome, and coordinates care with internal and external providers. Maintains appropriate professional boundaries and standards and provides appropriate follow-up for consumers., • Exhibits professionalism, enthusiasm, courtesy, adaptability, flexibility, and spirit of cooperation in the work environment., • Maintains effective interpersonal relations with consumers, peers, subordinates, management, visitors, and the public., • Effectively responds to client/consumer needs and problems, initiates and maintains positive interactions, and provides timely response to phone calls, pages, email and other requests., • Works cooperatively with other community agencies. As appropriate and as agreed with supervisor, participates in committees, task forces, etc. of the Center or the community., • Bilingual ability to conduct psychiatric evaluations and treatment in English and Spanish is preferred., • Medical consultation of active patients and on call responsibility for admission decisions and medical concerns., • Act as a medical/psychiatric consultant to admissions staff to help assess appropriateness of referrals. Participate in scheduled doc to doc consultations., • Perform physical exams within 24 - 72 hours of admission. Conduct clinic approximately 2-3 days a week. A minimum of 75% scheduled hours to be worked on site. Staff will compile a list of patients that want to be seen for chronic or urgent medical concerns., • Triage patients’ medical concerns as emergent, urgent, or non-urgent, and ensure appropriate follow-up, • Coordinate care with external providers as indicated, • Document medical evaluations and follow ups in the EHR within 24 hours of service, • Prescribe relevant medical and MAT medications, including continuing home medications and/or starting new medications if indicated. This includes entering medications in the EHR., • Practice within regulatory guidelines, including Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS) Volume 7 Rule, Behavioral Health Administration (BHA) and Behavioral Health Administration Service Organization (BHASO), • Communicate medical status updates and medication changes to staff, • Be informed of all abnormal medication events, including medication occurrence reports, • Be informed of vital sign abnormalities and advise staff on appropriate follow-up, • Consult on protocols and workflows with the pharmacy, • Develop and ensure maintenance of Emergency Medication/AED Stations for the Youth Recovery Unit., • Update OTC MARs as necessary, • Periodic review of Vital Sign Parameters and flow chart, • Review and edit medical policies and procedures, • Provide trainings to staff on desired medical and MAT related topics, • Provide vital sign and emergency medications training for staff, • Maintains an understanding of how trauma impacts the lives of the people being served, works to ensure that every interaction is consistent with the recovery process. Salary - $136,488.144 ($65.6193/hr)* *Jefferson Center pay is based on various factors including education level, licensure level, and years of relative experience. *The salary range listed above is based on 1.0 FTE (40 hours per week).
