Position Summary The Director of Engagement leads the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of a person-centered engagement program for all residents (including Memory Care where applicable). This role plans, facilitates, and evaluates social, intellectual, spiritual, physical, creative, and community-connection activities in alignment with company policies, resident preferences, and applicable regulations. The Director partners closely with Dining, Clinical/Wellness, Sales & Marketing, and Volunteer/Community partners to support quality of life and a vibrant community culture. • Build a balanced monthly calendar across engagement domains (social, cognitive, spiritual, physical, creative, sensory, intergenerational, community service)., • Ensure offerings reflect residents’ cultural, religious, and ethnic backgrounds and support varying abilities and stages of dementia., • Personally meet each new resident within 3 days of move-in to complete a Life Story/Interests profile and incorporate it into the plan of care., • Lead and/or supervise delivery of activities, special events, holiday programs, discussion groups, music/movie showings, exercise classes, and outings., • Provide adapted formats (small-group, 1:1, hallway or bedside engagement) to reach residents who don’t join group activities., • Use evidence-informed approaches (validation/Montessori-style techniques, sensory engagement, reminiscence, music therapy coordination) to support residents living with dementia., • Coach team members on cueing, redirection, and environment setup to reduce distress and maximize participation., • Publish a professional monthly calendar and daily activity sheets; maintain attendance logs and progress notes per policy., • Track participation and satisfaction; use data to adjust programming., • Maintain resident engagement software/records if used., • Recruit, screen, train, schedule, and recognize volunteers; maintain required logs and files., • Coordinate guest speakers, performers, faith leaders, schools, and community groups., • Coordinate resident transportation needs and schedules for activities, medical appointments, and community events; ensure proper supervision, permissions, and safety checks., • Plan and execute community-wide and holiday events (set-up, décor, vendors/entertainers, AV)., • Ensure timely and accurate vendor paperwork (contracts, W-9s, invoices) following company policy., • Hire, schedule, train, coach, and evaluate Engagement team members within budgeted hours., • Provide in-service education on engagement best practices, dementia communication, and hospitality standards., • Implement safe activity practices (equipment, sanitation, food handling for events, mobility/transfer awareness)., • Participate in QA/Safety/Infection-Control committees and drills; adapt programming during outbreaks or restrictions., • Protect resident privacy and confidential information at all times., • Partner with Sales & Marketing on events, tours, social media content (per policy), and referral outreach to support census., • Lead “New Resident Welcome” and “Resident Birthday” programs., • Manage department budget (supplies, entertainers, transportation, subscriptions) and inventory., • Ensure accurate, timely clerical work (calendars, newsletter content, schedules, purchase orders)., • Hold monthly Resident Council and ensure follow-up on suggestions., • Provide coverage plans during staff absences., • Manager on Duty (MOD): Participates in the community’s MOD rotation, including some evenings, weekends, and holidays, and serves as the on-site administrative lead during assigned shifts., • Recent history of care experience in senior housing setting, • Excellent customer service and communication skills, • Positive and cheerful disposition, • Proven leadership and organizational qualities, • Comfortable making decisions and directing others, • Knowledge of progression and care of dementia residents, • High school graduate or equivalent GED, • Health insurance costing as little as $50/pay period Individual, Full Time Employees, • Robust benefit plan offerings including Medical (PPO and HAS Plans), Dental, Vision, Critical Illness, Accident Insurance, HSA, FSA, etc., • Employer Paid Short Term/ Long Term Disability, Life Insurance, Employee Assistance Program, • 401(k) plan with employer match, • Paid Time Off and Paid Holidays, • Daily employee meal provided
