Job Description Claims Auditor – Flexible Contract Role ($40/hr) Location: Rhode Island (Hybrid or Remote) Type: Temporary / Contract | Flexible Schedule Pay: $40/hour + travel reimbursement (as applicable) Love digging into claims details? Our client — a national management and service organization supporting insurance industry groups and the residual market — is looking for a Claims Auditor to join their team on a flexible, project-based basis. You’ll use your claims expertise and investigative mindset to review real claim files, verify accuracy, and help carriers maintain the highest compliance standards. It’s meaningful work with real variety — and no two audits are ever quite the same. What You’ll Do • Participate in claims compliance audits lasting 22–80 hours per project., • Take on 1–8 assignments per year, typically between February and December (never more than two at a time)., • Review open and closed claims for loss payments, reserves, subrogation, and other key elements., • Assess compliance with residual market auto insurance standards and state-specific regulations., • Check for timeliness and accuracy in claim reporting, contact with insured/claimants, reserve adjustments, and settlements., • Follow up with servicing carriers for supporting documentation or clarification of findings., • Identify any potential red flags or trends that suggest non-compliance or SIU-worthy activity., • Record test results and findings in Excel workbooks — easy navigation, pre-formatted, and ready to go. Who You Are • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (preferred)., • Prior experience in automobile insurance claims — you understand claim life cycles, reserves, and documentation standards., • Comfortable navigating Excel and capturing detailed responses accurately., • Skilled communicator who can explain audit findings clearly and constructively., • Analytical, detail-oriented, and curious — you like connecting the dots and getting the story behind the claim., • A team player with an independent streak — you know when to collaborate and when to dive deep solo.
