To protect your workforce, we are at your fingertips: internationalsos.com Job Description This position is contingent upon award The RN Clinic Manager provides day-to-day leadership and operational oversight for a VA Community Based Outpatient Clinic serving enrolled Veterans. This role blends clinical expertise with people and practice management to ensure safe, timely, efficient, equitable, Veteran-centered care aligned to the Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT)/Patient-Centered Medical Home model and VA standards. The RN Clinic Manager supervises clinical support staff, optimizes patient access and flow, drives quality improvement, ensures regulatory compliance, and participates in direct nursing care within scope. • Direct supervision of nursing and clinical support staff (typ. 8–20 FTEs, mix of RN/LPN/MA)., • Input/partnership in provider onboarding and support (physicians, PAs/NPs, pharmacists, behavioral health)., • May serve as Acting Clinic Director during absences, as assigned., • Own daily clinic operations (opening/closing procedures, huddles, staffing assignments, room utilization, supply readiness)., • Manage templates, scheduling rules, and access targets; monitor no-show, cancellation, and third-next-available appointment metrics; implement access recovery plans., • Coordinate referrals, care transitions, and specialty/network care; track consult completion and patient follow-up., • Maintain readiness for unannounced surveys and inspections (e.g., Joint Commission, OSHA, VA Environment of Care)., • Recruit, onboard, schedule, and evaluate nurses (RN/LPN) and clinical support staff (MAs/technicians); oversee competencies and precepting., • Conduct daily PACT/clinic huddles and weekly staff meetings; escalate risks and barriers; cultivate a just-culture and high-reliability mindset., • Manage timekeeping, productivity, and performance improvement plans; support professional development and continuing education., • Provide triage, chronic disease management, immunizations, wound care, medication administration, and patient education using evidence-based protocols., • Employ telephone/virtual nursing, clinical reminders, and population health registries to proactively close care gaps., • Serve as charge nurse during clinical operations and as on-scene clinical leader for emergencies until higher level care arrives., • Lead the clinic’s Quality Management plan: define aims, track KPIs, and run PDSA cycles for access, safety, experience, and outcomes., • Ensure adherence to VA directives, nursing standards, infection prevention, medication management, safe-hand-off, and documentation policies (HIPAA/Privacy, OSHA, CLIA as applicable)., • Investigate and report safety events; perform audits (e.g., hand hygiene, crash cart, controlled substances, temperature logs), • Maintain competency and training files; ensure BLS/ACLS currency as required by scope., • Champion whole-health, trauma-informed, and culturally competent caree, • Resolve complaints/Service Recovery; analyze SHEP/CX feedback; implement action plans., • Promote care coordination with community partners and Veteran Service Organizations as appropriate., • Ensure accurate, timely documentation and order entry in the VA EHR (e.g., CPRS/Cerner) and ancillary systems., • Run and interpret dashboards/registries (clinical reminders, immunizations, HEDIS/EDoC-like measures, care gaps); communicate results to teams., • Safeguard information security and privacy in all workflows., • Oversee supply chain and equipment maintenance (biomed, calibration, crash cart checks); manage PAR levels and cost-effective purchasing., • Participate in budgeting, staffing models, and contract compliance (if applicable)., • Coordinate facilities requests and Environment of Care rounds., • Completes required organizational compliance education, including assigned requirements that are client-specified, for Joint Commission Healthcare Staffing Services certification or other regulatory bodies. This list is non-exhaustive, and the role holder may be required to undertake additional duties that are not specifically listed above.Qualifications Required Skills and Knowledge: • 3+ years of ambulatory or primary care RN experience, with 1+ year in a charge/lead/supervisory capacity., • Current BLS (AHA). ACLS may be required based on clinic scope., • Proficiency with EHRs and standard office applications; ability to learn VA systems and clinical reminders., • Strong clinical judgment, delegation, and escalation skills; comfortable functioning as charge nurse., • Data-driven operations mindset; able to interpret dashboards and translate into daily workflows., • Excellent communication, de-escalation, and service recovery skills., • Competence in infection prevention, medication management, scope-of-practice, and emergency response., • Current unrestricted RN license in the state where the CBOC is located., • BSN or MSN; leadership/management coursework or certification (e.g., NE-BC, CPHQ, PCMH-CCE)., • Experience in VA/DoD, CBOC, FQHC, or PCMH environments; familiarity with PACT model and VA directives., • Population health, care management, chronic disease programs, and quality improvement (Lean/Six Sigma) experience., • On-site role with occasional travel for training/meetings., • Sitting, standing, walking, climbing, bending/stooping, kneeling, twisting., • Visual acuity. Minimal hearing loss., • Push/pull/carry minimum 25 lbs. Additional Information Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographical market data.
