Job Description Job Title: Diesel Technician Job Description The Diesel Technician maintains and repairs heavy-duty diesel trucks and related equipment, performing brake repairs, preventive maintenance, and a wide range of mechanical and diagnostic work. This role focuses on keeping vehicles safe, reliable, and compliant by troubleshooting issues, completing general repairs, and ensuring all work meets quality and safety standards. Responsibilities • Perform maintenance and repair on heavy-duty diesel trucks and related equipment, including routine inspections, adjustments, and part replacements., • Complete brake repairs and preventive maintenance services to ensure vehicles operate safely and efficiently., • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues on trucks, identifying root causes and implementing effective repair solutions., • Repair and maintain chassis components to support vehicle stability, safety, and performance., • Service and repair vehicle refuse bodies and associated control systems to ensure reliable operation in demanding environments., • Work on hydraulic systems, including inspection, diagnosis, repair, and replacement of hydraulic components., • Diagnose and repair electrical systems, including wiring, connectors, and control modules, to resolve performance and safety issues., • Maintain and repair air brake systems, ensuring all components function properly and meet applicable standards., • Perform general engine work, including inspections, repairs, and component replacements as needed., • Service HVAC components to maintain effective heating, ventilation, and air conditioning performance in vehicles., • Inspect, repair, and adjust suspension systems, drive train components, and steering systems to ensure safe and stable vehicle operation., • Use personal tools and shop equipment to complete work efficiently and accurately., • At least 3 years of hands-on experience working with heavy-duty trucks., • Proven experience performing mechanical repairs on trucks, including diagnostics and component replacement., • Strong knowledge of diesel truck systems, including engines, brakes, and driveline components., • Ability to perform preventive maintenance services on diesel trucks and equipment., • Proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and air brake issues., • Experience repairing chassis components, suspension systems, drive train, and steering systems., • Ability to service and repair vehicle refuse bodies and their control systems., • Skills in general engine work, including inspection and repair of key components., • Experience working with HVAC components in vehicles., • Capability to work independently and efficiently in a repair shop environment., • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is preferred., • Experience working specifically on diesel engines is highly beneficial., • Experience in waste management or working on refuse vehicles is a strong plus., • Strong attention to detail and commitment to performing high-quality repairs., • Ability to follow shop procedures and safety guidelines consistently., • Effective communication skills to report findings and repair status. Work Environment The role is based in a shop environment focused on maintaining and repairing heavy-duty diesel trucks and related equipment. You work with a variety of tools and diagnostic equipment, including your own personal tool set, to perform mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and brake system repairs. The schedule typically follows standard shop hours, with work performed in and around large vehicles and refuse equipment, requiring adherence to safety procedures, use of appropriate personal protective equipment, and practical work attire suitable for a hands-on, mechanical setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Cincinnati, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $32.00/hr.
