The team is collaborative, service-driven, and responsible for managing all financial operations that support essential citywide services and long-term fiscal planning. Team Structure The Accounting Manager will work within a mid-sized municipal finance team that includes. This role is open due to department growth. Position Overview The Accounting Manager will oversee day-to-day accounting activities, supervise staff, and manage core financial functions such as payroll, accounts payable/receivable, general ledger work, purchasing compliance, capital asset tracking, financial reporting, and audit preparation. The ideal candidate is a strong leader with deep knowledge of government or union-related accounting environments who can thrive in a fast-paced municipal setting. Must-Have Qualifications • Degree in Accounting/Finance/Economics, • Municipal/City government accounting experience strongly preferred, • If no city experience, Union contract/MOU experience is required, • Proven supervisory/managerial experience in an accounting setting, • Strong understanding of governmental accounting principles (GASB, fund accounting, etc.)Key Responsibilities (Representative list, not exhaustive) • Oversee and perform activities for Payroll, A/R, A/P, Cash Receipts, GL, Capital Assets, and Purchasing., • Supervise, train, and evaluate assigned accounting staff., • Review and approve disbursements in accordance with purchasing policies., • Prepare or review monthly bank reconciliations and Treasurer's Reports., • Maintain financial records for capital projects and fixed assets., • Support preparation of the annual audit, ACFR, Single Audit, and special revenue audits., • Assist with monthly and annual financial statement preparation., • Support development and monitoring of the annual budget., • Analyze financial data to support decision-making., • Evaluate internal controls and recommend improvements., • Maintain and update the agency's accounting systems., • Prepare journal entries, reports, and special analyses as needed.Why This Opportunity?, • Stable, long-term public sector environment, • Direct mentorship from an experienced Finance Director, • 9/75 schedule with every other Friday off, • Clear path to permanent hire after 6 months, • Opportunity to meaningfully impact financial operations in a community-focused settingPlease click apply now and submit your resume.
