Job Description Job Title: Mixer Operator – 2nd Shift Job Description This role operates mixing and batching equipment on 2nd shift to produce liquid products in a controlled manufacturing environment. The mixer operator reviews formulas, prepares and combines ingredients, monitors batch reactions, and packages finished products while following strict safety and good manufacturing practices. Responsibilities • Review assigned formulas for chemical and packaging requirements and follow the correct sequence of reactions and mixing steps., • Complete assigned batches within the allotted time while maintaining quality and safety standards., • Retrieve ingredients according to the formula and verify that only quality-controlled and approved materials are used., • Accurately measure and weigh ingredients, recording any substitutions, over-pours, or adjustments and obtaining supervisor approval as needed., • Follow good manufacturing guidelines throughout the mixing and batching process., • Monitor equipment and observe production during the entire batch process, making adjustments as necessary to maintain product quality., • Safely operate forklifts and pallet jacks to gather and move raw materials and supplies., • Take ownership of material availability and promptly notify the warehouse or supervisor of any missing raw materials required to complete batches., • Package approved batches and properly label all finished product containers according to specifications., • Stock supplies and label containers of raw materials as needed to support continuous production., • Use equipment that is in proper working condition and perform routine maintenance on equipment as required., • Clean, sanitize, and inspect tools, pumps, tanks, pipelines, and other equipment to maintain sanitation and product integrity., • Complete end-of-day procedures, including restocking raw materials, performing housekeeping tasks, and controlling and documenting production waste., • Maintain a clean and safe work area and adhere to all safety regulations and procedures, including understanding the hazards associated with handling various chemicals., • Train new operators and mixers on processes, equipment, and safety practices and assist in other areas of the plant as needed., • Perform other work-related duties as assigned to support overall plant operations., • Observe all safety rules and procedures at all times while performing duties., • Follow lock-out tag-out procedures when working on or around equipment. Essential Skills • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing or production, preferably with liquid products., • Proficiency in basic math skills to measure, weigh, and calculate ingredient quantities accurately., • Experience operating mixers, blenders, batch makers, and related production equipment., • Ability to follow detailed formulas and written instructions for mixing, batching, and packaging., • Capability to safely operate forklifts and pallet jacks in a production environment., • Knowledge of good manufacturing practices and adherence to safety procedures., • Ability to clean, sanitize, and inspect production equipment to maintain cleanliness and product quality., • Strong attention to detail for accurate labeling, documentation, and recording of batch information., • Willingness to work 2nd shift, Monday through Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Work history in mixing, batching, or compounding within a manufacturing or production setting., • Hands-on experience as a mixer operator, batch maker, blender, compounder, or machine operator., • Familiarity with batch mixing processes for soaps, detergents, or similar liquid products., • Comfort working around strong fragrances and scented products., • Ability to train and mentor new operators and support cross-functional plant activities., • Strong sense of ownership, reliability, and commitment to completing batches accurately and on time. Work Environment The role is based in a general manufacturing environment focused on soap making and liquid production. The facility is a smaller plant with a temperature-controlled setting that helps maintain comfort during all seasons. Strong smells and fragrances from soaps and related products are present throughout the workday. Work is performed on 2nd shift, Monday through Friday, from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. The position involves regular use of mixers, blenders, pumps, tanks, pipelines, forklifts, and pallet jacks, as well as routine cleaning and sanitizing of equipment and work areas. Employees follow established safety procedures, including lock-out tag-out, and maintain a clean, orderly production area in line with good manufacturing practices. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of MEMPHIS, TN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.36 - $21.36/hr.
