HVAC Services Technician (Levels II–Lead) Location: Midland, TX Employment Type: Full-Time | Direct Hire Schedule: Fully Onsite | Monday–Friday Compensation: $20–$55 per hour (based on experience and technician level) Position Overview Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking skilled HVAC Services Technicians for multiple levels of experience, ranging from Technician II through Lead HVAC Services Technician. These positions are responsible for installing, commissioning, maintaining, troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing commercial HVAC and mechanical systems while ensuring exceptional customer service and adherence to safety standards. Technicians will support the operation and maintenance of critical HVAC infrastructure, including chillers, boilers, pumps, air handling units (AHUs), fan coil units (FCUs), energy recovery ventilators, controls systems, and related mechanical equipment. Depending on experience level, candidates may also provide technical leadership, support field operations, assist with scheduling and estimating, mentor junior technicians, and serve as a subject matter expert in specialized HVAC disciplines. The ideal candidate possesses strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting skills, HVAC service experience, and a commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities HVAC Installation, Service & Maintenance • Install, commission, troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain commercial HVAC equipment and mechanical systems, • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on chillers, boilers, pumps, AHUs, FCUs, controls systems, and related equipment, • Service and repair energy recovery ventilators, hydronic systems, and other mechanical infrastructure, • Identify equipment deficiencies and recommend corrective actions, • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with manufacturer specifications and industry standards, • Document service activities, maintenance records, and equipment performance Technical Support & Field Operations • Diagnose complex HVAC and mechanical system issues using advanced troubleshooting techniques, • Support field operations by coordinating service activities and ensuring efficient project execution, • Assist with scheduling, estimating, and work planning activities as needed, • Maintain service vehicle inventory, tools, and equipment, • Support procurement and inventory management efforts, • Collaborate with internal teams, subcontractors, and vendors to complete projects successfully Customer Service & Communication • Establish and maintain positive customer relationships, • Communicate project status, equipment conditions, and service recommendations clearly and professionally, • Deliver exceptional customer service both on-site and remotely, • Represent the organization professionally while interacting with customers and project stakeholders Leadership & Mentorship (Lead-Level Responsibilities) • Provide technical guidance and support to HVAC technicians, • Serve as a subject matter expert in chiller systems, controls, or mechanical service disciplines, • Assist with technician training, development, and mentoring, • Support service coordinators with scheduling, resource allocation, and project execution, • Help drive team productivity, profitability, and customer satisfaction, • Assist sales teams with estimating and technical consultation when needed Safety & Compliance • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and industry regulations, • Maintain safe work practices in all environments, • Identify and mitigate workplace hazards, • Promote a culture of safety and accountability, • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and customer requirements Required Qualifications • Active HVAC Technician License required, • EPA Certification required, • Minimum 2 years of commercial HVAC service experience, • Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and mechanical repair skills, • Experience working with commercial HVAC systems and mechanical equipment, • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, schematics, and equipment specifications, • Strong verbal and written communication skills, • Excellent organizational and time management abilities, • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, • Commitment to safety, quality, and customer service Preferred Qualifications • 4+ years of commercial HVAC experience for mid-level technicians, • 8+ years of commercial HVAC experience for lead-level candidates, • Experience servicing chillers, boilers, pumps, AHUs, FCUs, and controls systems, • Chiller rebuild experience, • Experience supporting field operations, scheduling, or estimating, • Prior leadership, mentoring, or technician development experience, • Subject matter expertise in chiller systems, controls, or mechanical services Physical Requirements & Work Environment • Travel approximately 0–5%, • Ability to climb ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and ramps, • Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and perform repetitive motions, • Operate machinery, hand tools, and power tools safely, • Lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds, • Work in indoor and outdoor environments, including exposure to varying weather conditions, noise, and active construction or industrial sites, • Ability to work in mechanical rooms, rooftops, and confined spaces as required Why Work with Wheeler Staffing Partners?
