Job DescriptionDescription: Job Title: Materials, Procurement & Logistics Manager Location: Kymera - Thermal Spray Solutions (TSS), Chesapeake, VA Reports To: Project Manager Job Overview: The Materials, Procurement & Logistics Manager leads inventory control, procurement, and logistics operations supporting ship repair activities within a NAVSEA-regulated environment. This role provides strategic direction across two operational sites (Chesapeake, VA & Houston, TX) and shipboard services, coordinating materials, personnel, and vendor services to meet production schedules and contractual requirements. The Manager ensures inventory accuracy, supply chain performance, logistics execution, and budget adherence across shipyards, warehouses, controlled-access facilities, and onboard vessels. This role drives process standardization, cost optimization, and continuous improvement while ensuring regulatory, security, and quality compliance. This position may require travel up to 25% to support off-site operations, supplier coordination, and project execution. Key Responsibilities: Inventory Management & Control • Oversee inventory strategies for Chesapeake VA, Houston TX, and shipboard operations (remote sites US and International)., • Manage warehouses, shops, waterfront/dry dock locations, and onboard inventories., • Direct cycle counts, physical inventories, and audits; implement corrective actions., • Standardize storage, staging, and material handling practices., • Ensure compliance with NAVSEA and customer standards. Shipyard & Base Access Coordination -Oversee access processes for employees, vendors, and subcontractors at both sites. -Ensure compliance with security protocols, badging, and clearances. -Resolve access issues affecting schedules. -Maintain relationships with access authorities. Procurement & Vendor Management -Lead procurement across Chesapeake, Houston, and shipboard projects. -Develop sourcing strategies, evaluate suppliers, negotiate pricing and delivery. -Manage vendor performance, including quality and responsiveness. -Coordinate subcontractor services to meet milestones. -Track long-lead items and implement alternate sourcing strategies. -Improve procurement processes and supplier relationships. Budget Management & Cost Control -Manage budgets for materials, logistics, and subcontracted services across sites. -Monitor expenditures, forecast costs, and align with project targets. -Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives. -Analyze trends, variances, and operational efficiency opportunities. -Partner with Project Management and Accounting on forecasting. ERP (SAP) Governance & Documentation -Oversee SAP transactions for inventory and procurement. -Ensure data integrity across part numbers, locations, cost codes, and projects. -Enforce ERP standard operating procedures. -Maintain audit-ready documentation for all materials and transactions. Cross-Functional Leadership -Coordinate Operations, Engineering, QA, Project Management, and Supply Chain teams. -Advise Project Managers on material availability, cost, and logistics planning. -Support production teams to meet critical path schedules. -Drive continuous improvement initiatives. -Mentor and guide team members.
