Position Summary The Systems Engineer applies a working knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals to provide guidance to the division's engineering and design activities under the direction of a Program Manager. The Systems Engineer will be required to interact with other OTECH personnel and the client to guide engineering efforts to meet the client's requirements. The Systems Engineer will provide guidance to engineering design efforts through the development of systems engineering documentation, including: concepts of operations, requirements specifications, interface control documents and drawings, hazard analysis, test plans and procedures. Duties And Responsibilities ESSENTIAL : \n • Performs analysis of user requirements, concept of operations documents, and high level system architectures to develop system requirements specifications. \n, • Guide system development and implementation planning through preparation of concept of operations, interface control documents, hazard analysis, and test plans and procedures. \n, • Proven experience in systems engineering, particularly in the acquisition of complex systems. \n, • Displays excellent technical judgment, attention to detail, and ability to look at the "big picture" in system design. \n, • Demonstrates ability to devise innovative solutions to problems. \n, • Reviews progress and evaluates results of work accomplished by self and others. \n, • Prepares reports and presents results to management and client. \n, • Requirements Analysis and Development:\n, • Translate operational needs into clear, testable technical requirements. \n, • Conduct requirements functional decomposition, allocation, and traceability. \n, • Participate in system requirements reviews, preliminary design reviews, and critical design reviews. \n\n\n, • Systems Engineering Lifecycle Management:\n, • Support the development of technical plans and documents. \n, • Manage risks and issues throughout the acquisition lifecycle. \n, • Review technical data and test plans. \n\n\n, • Integration and Interoperability:, • Support the integration and interoperability of multiple systems to function as a cohesive system of systems. \n\n, • Collaboration and Communication:\n, • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineers, program managers, and stakeholders. \n, • Develop and maintain strong communication skills to effectively convey technical information. \n\n\n, • Technical Expertise:\n, • Possess strong technical skills in systems engineering principles and practices. \n, • Maintain knowledge of relevant regulations, policies, and operating instructions. \n\n\n, • Test and Evaluation:\n, • Assist in designing, planning, executing, analyzing, reporting, and documenting test and evaluation efforts. \n, • Ensure that systems, subsystems, components, and equipment meet performance requirements as set forth in a Requirements Verification and Traceability Matrix (RVTM). \n\n\n, • Urgent Capability Acquisition (UCA) Focus:\n, • Understand the unique challenges and requirements of Urgent Capability Acquisition (UCA) pathways. • \n, • Focus on rapid acquisition and deployment of capabilities to meet urgent operational needs. \n\n\n, • Documentation and Reporting:\n, • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including technical plans, reports, and procedures. \n REQUIRED: \n • BS degree in relevant engineering discipline: Electrical, Computer, Mechanical or Systems Engineering. \n, • Minimum 10 years of practical experience in Systems Engineering.\n, • Must have greater than 10 years of experience practicing System Safety Engineering\n, • Minimum 5 years of experience at the design engineering level with:\n, • Developing sections of systems engineering documentation, including system engineering plans, initial capabilities documents, requirements specifications, and interface control documents.\n, • Managing system requirements and derived requirements to ensure the delivery of production systems are compatible with the defined system architectures, including Department of\n, • Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF and Service-oriented Architecture (SOA).\n, • Assisting with the development of system requirements, functional requirements, and allocation of the same to individual hardware, software, facility, and personnel components.\n, • Participating in the development of system engineering documentation, including system engineering plans, requirements specifications, and interface control documents. \n, • System requirements and stakeholder needs, including functions that may be logically inferred and implied, as essential to system effectiveness.\n\n\n, • Candidate will have to perform in an ISO-9000 rated company in a rapidly changing and demanding atmosphere.\n, • Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of leadership and work bot independently and collaboratively in a team environment.\n, • Must have demonstrated and be willing to independently manage multiple tasks with various stakeholders in parallel i.e., assess design changes, field reported issues, system deficiencies, 'pop-up' tasking, etc.\n, • Knowledge of relevant systems engineering standards, regulations and policies.\n, • Must be independently motivated to learn new methods / practices of analysis methods.\n, • Must be a US citizen.\n, • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 environment.\n, • Working knowledge with an SEDB tool (CRADLE, DOORS etc).\n, • Work experience with US Department of Defense (DoD) or the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).\n, • Specific to UCA: Experience with rapid prototyping, agile development methodologies, and time-sensitive acquisition processes.\n, • An active DoD "SECRET" clearance or higher.\n, • Ability to grow / enhance a process or product by applying your own unique skillset and perspective.\n This position is Hybrid - Remote and will require commuting to a designated office.
