Job Description STEM - LEAD YOUTH DEVELOPMENTAL PROFESSIONAL – IDEA BASSETT TEEN The STEM Lead Youth Development Specialist is responsible for ensuring youth development principles are being incorporated into programs and activities. They also serve as a backup to the Unit Director and assist with the facilitation of all programs. The Youth Development Youth Professional is part of a team-oriented Club staff dedicated to serving our youth and creating an optimal Club Experience. KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities): Prepare Youth for Success This position’s primary responsibilities are: • Assist with planning and implementing a variety of youth programs for members of all ages, • Recruiting and retaining youth for all programs, • Working with other staff in the club to help implement these programs throughout the school year, • Arrange and invite career professionals to engage with youth about career paths, • Ensure that all club members experience the STEM programming as outlined in the 21st Century Community Learning Centers narrative. Participate in specialized STEM training with BGCNF's community partner, STEM2Hub. In addition, the STEM YDP will interface with the school science teachers to ensure the afterschool STEM programs align and complement the school programming., • Ensure programs, services, and activities prepare youth for success, promoting the safety of members, quality of programs, and appearance of the Club at all times. Provide guidance and role modeling to members. 3. Contribute to the planning and implementation of the strategic plan by: • Planning and organizing a range of program services and activities for members, such as field trips, program-specific activities, guest speakers, field trips, etc., • Initiating new programs with the approval of the Program Director/Unit Director., • Promoting and stimulating program participation. 4. Ensure quality improvement by monitoring and evaluating program achievement against target goals, recommending modifications that respond to member needs and interests, and participating in weekly Club staff meetings. • Ensure a healthy and safe environment, supervising members in the program area., • Maintain the cleanliness of the program area., • Prepare weekly reports for the Program Director/Unit Director regarding activities, special programs, upcoming events, attendance, and other reports as required., • May participate in additional special programs and/or events., • Evenings/weekend work may be involved., • May be required to drive a Club van., • (Requires valid driver’s license & three-year clean driving record) Internal: Maintains close, daily contact with club staff and volunteers, club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/instructions; instruct; and advise/counsel. This full-time, year-round role supports the strategic vision of the Director of Transportation by maintaining high-performance standards in execution, while ensuring that families, drivers, and school teams receive timely and accurate support. The Manager of Transportation supervises the daily work of bus drivers, supports driver onboarding and training, and maintains communication systems to ensure smooth daily operations. Key Responsibilities Routing & Daily Logistics * Design and maintain student bus routes using routing software, ensuring efficiency, safety, and compliance. * Oversee stop assignments, timing adjustments, and mid-year routing changes based on student enrollment or address updates. * Coordinate dispatch and tracking of the transportation fleet each day, resolving routing issues in real time. * Monitor and manage daily on-time arrival data to ensure route performance meets defined KPIs.
