Job Description The Arthritis Specialist office is seeking a Medical Assistant/Medical Office Assistant to support both clinical and administrative functions in a busy specialty practice that provides infusion services. This role ensures smooth patient flow, accurate medical documentation, and excellent patient service at all times. The ideal candidate is professional, detail-oriented, and able to balance front office duties with hands-on clinical support. Responsibilities Administrative Duties * Welcome patients and visitors, manage check-in/check-out, and update insurance/demographic information. * Answer and manage high-volume phone calls; schedule, confirm, and reschedule appointments. * Collect and process patient payments; reconcile daily balances. * Monitor and process faxes, referrals, and external medical records. * Maintain and update EMR charts (scan, file, and organize patient documentation). * Process prescription refill requests and obtain necessary prior authorizations. * Coordinate referrals, lab/imaging orders, and infusion appointments. * Complete required forms and documentation accurately and on time. Clinical Duties * Escort patients to exam rooms; collect medical history and document in EMR. * Take and record vital signs (height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature). * Prepare exam and infusion rooms for patient visits and treatments. * Assist providers during examinations and procedures as needed. * Support infusion workflows by ensuring rooms are clean, stocked, and patient-ready. * Maintain infection control protocols and OSHA safety standards (biohazard waste, equipment cleaning, safety checks). * Facilitate and process referrals as directed by providers. * Phlebotomy certification is a plus and will receive additional pay consideration. Environmental & Support Duties * Keep exam and infusion rooms, waiting areas, and front desk clean, stocked, and organized. * Order, sort, and restock office and medical supplies. * Reassure patients about wait times; prioritize and support patients with urgent needs. * Provide patient-centered service in person and over the phone. Qualifications * Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. * Certification: Certified Medical Assistant preferred (not required). Experience: • 1+ year of experience in a medical office . Experience with EMR systems (Medent preferred). * Strong communication, multitasking, and organizational skills. * Ability to provide professional, respectful and compassionate service in a specialty care environment.
