Job Description Job Title: Skilled Construction Laborer Job Description This role supports a busy marine facility by performing a wide range of hands-on construction and general labor tasks. You will help move boats through the clean-out process, assist service technicians with tools and materials, and contribute to painting and building maintenance. This is a fully outdoor, physically active position that plays a key part in keeping the marina, showroom, and service areas operating smoothly. Responsibilities • Move approximately 800 boats through the clean-out process, including transporting them from storage through service and rigging areas., • Assist service technicians with the labor portion of their work by gathering tools, materials, and equipment as needed., • Perform general construction and building maintenance tasks around the facility., • Support painting projects on buildings, structures, and related surfaces as directed., • Use hand tools and power tools safely to build, install, repair, and maintain facility components., • Handle materials, parts, and equipment, including loading, unloading, and organizing work areas., • Operate or assist with operating tractors and forklifts to move boats and materials, if qualified., • Work outdoors 100% of the time in varying weather conditions while maintaining safety and productivity., • Lift and carry materials and equipment weighing up to 85 pounds as part of daily tasks., • Follow all safety procedures and facility guidelines to protect yourself, coworkers, and equipment., • Experience performing general labor or construction-related work in an outdoor environment., • Ability to use common hand tools such as impact drivers, hammers, and tape measures., • Ability to use basic power tools, including drills and related equipment, safely and effectively., • Capability to perform material handling tasks, including lifting up to 85 lbs., • Must have and bring your own basic hand tools (impact driver, hammer, tape measure, etc.)., • Ability to follow instructions and support service technicians with tools and labor tasks., • Clean driving record suitable for operating vehicles and equipment on site., • Comfort working 100% outdoors in various weather conditions., • Ability to operate a tractor is preferred., • Ability to operate a forklift is preferred., • Familiarity with dock, marina, or marine-related work is a plus., • Experience in building, installation, or construction environments is beneficial., • Comfort working around boats, trailers, and marine equipment. Work Environment The facility operates a full-service 112-slip marina, new and used boat dealership, service center, gas dock, ship’s store, and boat storage across a 28-acre property. You will work primarily outdoors 100% of the time, moving between storage areas, service bays, docks, and maintenance zones. The complex is modern and state-of-the-art, recognized with national and international awards from boat manufacturers and marine retail associations. Standard hours follow a straight 40-hour workweek, Monday through Friday, with minimal overtime; if Saturday work is needed, you receive a weekday off in exchange. The role involves frequent use of hand tools, power tools, tractors, forklifts, and other material-handling equipment, as well as regular lifting of up to 85 pounds. The environment is active, hands-on, and centered around boats, docks, and marine equipment, with a professional yet practical dress code appropriate for outdoor construction and maintenance work. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Grand Island, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
