Job DescriptionDescription: Position Summary: The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the finance department by maintaining financial records, preparing reports, and assisting with audits and budgeting processes. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, and the ability to analyze financial data to support strategic decision-making. Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities: β’ Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements., β’ Prepare daily, weekly, monthly statistical data & reporting., β’ Process bi-weekly payroll., β’ Assist with Special Event financial tracking., β’ Assist with general ledger accounting and reconciliations., β’ Support budgeting and forecasting activities., β’ Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting standards (GAAP)., β’ Assist with external audits and tax filings., β’ Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation records., β’ Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting., β’ High attention to detail., β’ Experience using QuickBooks Accounting software., β’ Knowledge of Donor Perfect and Paylocity software preferred., β’ Proficient at developing, using, and analyzing Excel spreadsheets., β’ Knowledge and ability to learn and utilize various types of computer software, β’ Ability to maintain confidentiality of Museum information., β’ Problem solving skills dealing with issues of monthly financial statement preparation and bank reconciliations., β’ Ability to stay organized, prioritize and manage a busy schedule., β’ Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects on a consistent basis., β’ Ability to work special events after hours., β’ Knowledge of non-profit accounting preferred., β’ Commitment to Imagine Childrenβs Museum Core Values., β’ Associate degree in Accounting, BA degree preferred or equivalent experience., β’ 5+ years of accounting experience preferred., β’ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
