Job DescriptionDescription: Job Summary: To conduct polysomnographic exams on patients in order to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders. To provide polysomnographic, diagnostic, and therapeutic services of patient care and education. To score sleep studies and help with cleaning and upkeep of equipment and sensors. Responsibilities Performs a variety of both daytime and nighttime polysomnographic exams on sleeping patients to detect common sleep disorders. Scores and results sleep studies to completion for the physicians to review and interpret and gives scoring and decision making feedback to the techs that ran the studies when needed. Teach and train new and less experienced techs in the procedures, techniques, responsibilities and expectations of a tech at this facility. Assign studies and nightly duties to other techs on a nightly basis, oversee all studies being performed by all techs. Follows procedural protocols to ensure collection of appropriate data. Documents procedures and data recorded from exams in order to facilitate scoring and interpretation of polysomnographic results. Attends sleep study clinic, perform tech consults, and complete other managerial duties as assigned when needed or when manager is out. Collects, analyzes and integrates patient information in order to identify and meet patient-specific needs and to determine final testing parameters. Explains pre-testing, testing and post-testing procedures to the patient in order to educate the patient. Prepares and calibrates equipment used for testing to determine proper functioning and makes adjustments if necessary. Keep track of supplies and supply needs to report to manager for ordering, as well as, performs equipment care and maintenance and complies with applicable laws, regulations, guidelines, and standards regarding safety and infection control issues. Duties: • Perform all duties described in standard operating procedures accurately and efficiently., • Effectively manage three bed (automated and manual) collections., • Performs all aspects of registration of whole blood and double red cell, and red cell plasma donors, donor screening, safety procedures & screening special procedures including Autologous, Directed and Therapeutic donations., • Performs all aspects of medical history, vein puncture procedure and donor monitoring., • Accurately perform all aspects of automated 2RBC procedures and RBC/Plasma procedures in conjunction with whole blood donations., • Quickly and competently responds to any donor reaction., • Completes donor collection (automated and manual) paperwork accurately., • Troubleshoot Automated collections equipment/procedures., • Performs daily, weekly, monthly and PRN maintenance on apheresis equipment., • Performs all a.m. and p.m. duties of the Apheresis department., • Treats donors and other staff in a friendly professional manner., • Effectively use Vista Collection System., • Effectively use DoVac Elite Computer System., • Participates in donor recruitment and scheduling., • Dependable and flexible with the ability to occasionally work mobile blood drives that require travel., • Able to meet irregular work hours, including weekends., • Valid MS driver's license with acceptable Motor Vehicle Report, • Ensures management has current telephone contact information in order to reach you., • Maintains current CPR/ AED certification., • Performs CPR as needed., • Performs all aspects of safety procedures., • Stocks and maintains interview areas, phlebotomy collection area and canteen, • Assists in training of staff as designated by department Manager., • High school graduate or equivalent along with a stable work history; previous experience or training desirable., • Basic computer skills, including accurate data entry., • Ability to meet fluctuating work schedules-Desire to make a difference, in this case, a lifesaving difference every single day, • Ability to work with and through others in a friendly, cooperative, unselfish manner, • Ability to work closely and accurately within established guidelines, while sometimes working at a faster than average pace, • Aware of and responsive to the needs and concerns of others., • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25lbs and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50lbs.
