What you will accomplish • Build, improve, and maintain programs that protect people and the environment while meeting all applicable regulations., • Drive initiatives that reduce risk, increase compliance, and advance sustainability performance across the organization., • Serve as a collaborative partner to operations, labs, facilities, and leadership, providing practical guidance and measurable results. Key responsibilities • Strengthen core health and safety programs, including laboratory safety, biosafety, PPE and hazardous material assessments, risk assessments, Emergency Action Plan, chemical inventory, SDS administration, and the Injury and Illness Prevention Program., • Plan and execute risk assessments, internal audits, and floor walkabouts (gemba style) across all departments. Identify hazards, document findings, and support teams in closing corrective actions., • Participate in site Safety Committees and lead or support related initiatives and campaigns., • Conduct routine safety inspections in work areas and storage locations. Partner with departments to remove hazards and verify fixes., • Support emergency preparedness and disaster planning, including scheduling and coordinating evacuation drills., • Lead or support incident and injury investigations. Determine root causes and recommend preventive measures., • Coordinate, deliver, and track EHS training for employees and contractors. Maintain accurate training records., • Design and roll out a comprehensive sustainability program across multiple facilities to advance resource efficiency and environmental stewardship., • Monitor and analyze EHS and sustainability metrics. Surface trends, recommend improvements, and report progress to internal and external stakeholders through clear presentations and summaries., • Manage hazardous waste and medical waste documentation, including manifest updates and tracking logs., • Maintain the online SDS and chemical management system, including inventory updates and access controls., • Track and maintain wastewater compliance requirements from local sanitation districts. Perform wastewater sampling in alignment with permit and regulatory expectations., • Inspect hazardous waste accumulation areas to confirm proper labeling, storage, segregation, and pickup readiness., • Promote safety awareness through campaigns, toolbox talks, and site activities., • Ensure spill kits, first aid kits, and AED units are stocked, inspected, and ready for use., • Execute follow ups tied to continuous EHS improvements and support related projects as needed. Qualifications • Bachelors degree preferred in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental or Chemical Sciences, Public Health, Engineering, Biotechnology, or a closely related field., • Two or more years of experience in Environmental Health and Safety and Sustainability. Industry background is open. Experience from regulated settings such as aerospace, medical device, healthcare, or transportation is welcomed., • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and foundational EPA requirements., • Baseline understanding of energy control and equipment servicing practices, including Lockout Tagout, hazardous energy isolation, compressed gases, and common mechanical hazards., • General knowledge of hazardous materials and chemical safety, including acids, bases, and flammable liquids, as well as chemical inventory control and SDS use., • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for documentation, analysis, and reporting. Nice to have • Exposure to sustainability frameworks and disclosures such as EcoVadis, Science Based Targets initiative, and Carbon Disclosure Project., • Experience with wastewater sampling protocols and coordination with local sanitation districts., • Familiarity with incident investigation methodologies and corrective action tracking tools.
