American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Peoria, Illinois. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: Med Surg, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 12/15/2025, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, nights, • Work in a surgical acute Med/Surg unit within an acute care hospital, • 63-bed unit with a mix of 49 private and 9 observation beds, • Patient population includes post-op surgical, trauma, and medical overflow cases, • Typical nurse-to-patient ratios are 4-5:1 for days and 5-6:1 for nights, • Shift schedule consists of three 12-hour night shifts (19:00-07:00) with every other weekend and rotating holiday requirements, • Travelers are the first to float to units with a similar level of care, • Epic EMR is used, and experience is preferred, • Telemonitoring is managed by central monitor techs using Phillips monitors; bedside RNs do not read strips, • CPAP and high flow equipment managed by RNs; RT handles nebulizers, • Responsibilities include post-op care, wound dressing changes, IV and pain management, and care of drains and NG tubes, • Unit supported by pre-assigned charge RNs who do not take a patient assignment, and 24/7 house supervisor, • Patient care techs assist with vitals, accu checks, ADLs, and patient ambulation, • Unit orientation includes two preceptor-led shifts plus one shift for Epic and professional orientation with a unit educator, • Scrub attire can be any color, • First-time travelers are welcome to apply, • Local candidates with a permanent address within 50 miles are eligible but receive a local rate, • COVID vaccination is not required\n \n Requirements\n, • Active IL RN license required at the time of consideration; pending licenses or applications not accepted, • Minimum of 1 year recent Med/Surg experience, • Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association, • Experience in post-op care, wound care, IV therapy, pain management, and use of central lines and TPN, • Demonstrated critical thinking skills and ability to work effectively within a team, • Good bedside manner and willingness to seek help when needed, • Must produce a negative drug screen for all panels\n Benefits\n, • High Pay and Bonuses, • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options, • 401(k) Plan, • Weekly Payroll Deposit, • Free Online CEUs, • Generous Housing Allowance, • Travel and Licensure Reimbursements, • Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
