The Role at a Glance The ISO Technician supports Kanto’s Supply Chain function by ensuring the continuous, safe, and reliable movement of chemicals delivered via ISO tanker. This role manages the coordinated flow of ISO tanks across the facility, working closely with Production, Quality, and Technical teams to maintain uninterrupted material availability. The ISO Technician is responsible for receiving, inspecting, sampling, and verifying incoming tankers to ensure all materials meet quality and specification requirements. Through accurate documentation, safe handling, and real-time communication, this position plays a critical role in maintaining product quality, operational continuity, and compliance with Kanto’s safety and regulatory standards. What You’ll Do • Load and unload ISO tanks from chassis and assigned pits., • Physically receive, inspect, and verify ISO tank condition upon arrival., • Complete receiving check sheets, inspections, and related documentation with accuracy., • Connect, flush, and sample ISO tanks in accordance with approved quality procedures., • Perform hose operations including pulling, rolling, and making chemical connections., • Offload approved ISO tanks; complete all required end-of-offload steps and verify tanks are empty., • Create and complete Master Trip Cards, Production Trip Cards, and Plex sample labels., • Perform system entries including LIMS submissions, Excel tracking logs, and ERP transactions., • Connect and initiate fills of customer lorries., • Resample and flush ISO tanks for quality or technical review as required., • Support ISO recertification activities in partnership with the Production Technical Team., • Safely move ISO tanks, chassis, trailers, and associated equipment around the facility., • Maintain clear communication via email and radio to support material flow and operational continuity., • Perform other duties as assigned. SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES Follows all Kanto and customer safety requirements and completes all required safety training. Actively participates in hazard identification, near-miss reporting, and process improvements. Must be able to wear PPE including air-purifying/supplied-air respirators, safety glasses, face shields, safety shoes, hard hats, fall protection, and other gear as required. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this role successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE • High school diploma or equivalent required., • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably involving hazardous materials or PPE., • Experience with chemical tankers is strongly preferred., • 1–2 years of yard spotter or tractor-trailer operation preferred; candidates without prior experience must be willing to learn onsite. (A CDL is not required for this position; however, candidates who currently hold a valid CDL will receive preference. There is a differential in pay for maintaining an active CDL license.), • Must complete required Hazmat Employee training (49 CFR 172.704) within 90 days of hire., • Must complete Hazardous Materials Technician (HAZWOPER) training (29 CFR 1910.120(q)(6)(iii)) within 90 days of hire., • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams required. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and understand safety protocols, procedures, and written instructions. Able to write simple reports and correspondences. Able to communicate clearly in one-on-one and small-group settings. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and work with percentages, fractions, decimals, and basic algebra. Ability to calculate figures such as volume, tank levels, and percent concentrations. REASONING ABILITY Ability to identify problems, collect and analyze data, interpret instructions in written, diagram, or mathematical form, and draw valid conclusions. Capable of working through both concrete and abstract variables. PHYSICAL DEMANDS • Regularly required to sit, twist, use hands, reach, speak, and hear alarms or spoken communication., • Frequently required to stand, walk, climb, stoop, kneel, or crouch., • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 70 pounds., • Must meet requirements for respirator use (medical clearance and fit test)., • Specific vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT Employees regularly work near moving mechanical equipment and flammable, toxic, and corrosive chemicals. Work may require heights (10–15 ft) and participation in emergency response for chemical spills. Noise levels are typically moderate. Reasonable accommodations may be made.
