Job Description GENERAL PURPOSE: Serves as the Residential Garage Door Salesman for a product line that will include; residential garage doors, garage door openers, and related components. Provides recommendations and estimates for replacement of all garage doors and openers. Sells appropriate services or replacement options when applicable. Interacts with customers on a daily basis providing them with excellent customer service. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Shows, promotes, and sells products or services using sales strategies, product demonstrations, and sales techniques, • Ensures company vehicles are cleaned, fueled, serviced, and restocked with appropriate sales materials, door panels, and brochures prior to the beginning of each workday, • Reviews work order information for accuracy and completeness before departing for job; contacts customers to communicate estimated arrival time, • Drives to job sites while observing all posted speed limits; uses professional driving techniques whenever operating company vehicles, • Reviews with customer replacement options for garage door and openers, including overview of parts comparison and benefits of our catalog of openers and doors., • Provides customer with written price quotes for best option, • Performs all pertinent measurements at time of estimate and uploads appropriate information into the operating system., • Reviews final estimate and door options with customers to ensure that all questions and concerns are addressed and reduce reasons for call-backs or additional questions, • Collects payment from customer and apply into operating system; ensures appropriate signatures are on all paperwork, • Follows door sales process; communicates with office personnel as well as General Manager on a daily basis to assure all orders and estimates are in correct status, • Provides copies of all paperwork to the customer, including but not limited to price quotes, the safety inspection, warranty, required notices, and owner’s manuals, • Notifies manager of any injuries sustained while on the job (within one hour); consults with the manager to determine if any injury requires mandatory drug testing and reporting to test facility, • Notifies supervisor of any required vehicle repairs in writing within 24 hours., • Follows up with customers in a timely manner on all door, panel replacement, and opener estimates, • Attends and participates in all required and requested safety meetings and training sessions in addition to weekly company meetings; obeys all safety rules, • Performs a variety of secondary support tasks as requested by the manager to include unloading of trucks, inventory support, and supporting other personnel MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Three to Five years of outside sales experience is a must. High school diploma or GED; some college preferred; supplemented by three or more years’ proven sales experience closing deals directly with customers and dealing with customer complaints; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience. Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and excellent driving record. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: • Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services to include marketing strategy, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales control systems, • Skill in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems, • Skill in giving engaging and effective sales presentations, • Skill in servicing and repairing garage doors, openers, and related components, • Skill in selecting and using appropriate training/instructional methods and procedures when learning or teaching new things, • Ability to provide excellent customer service by assessing customer needs, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluating customer satisfaction, • Ability to give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times, • Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions, • Knowledge of garage door track alignment, track adjustment, horizontal leveling, adequate back hangs, operator arms, and photo eye setting, • Skill in installing garage doors, openers, and related components, • Ability to use an assortment of mechanical tools and devices, • Ability to identify and repair specific brands of doors, openers, keyless entry systems, and related components, • Ability to safely drive a pick-up truck during the day, at night, and in inclement weather conditions, • Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work, • Ability to follow complex instructions and communicate effectively orally and in writing, • Ability to organize work for timely completion, • Ability to manage and maintain relationships with office personnel as well as vendors and customers. TARGETS AND PERFORMANCE: Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) will be based on the following: • Attendance/Tardiness – On-time to Door Estimates & all Meetings and compliant with company attendance policy, • Must achieve Door Close % greater than or equal to 60% for 12 consecutive months to qualify, • Optimize door sales average ticket to exceed company wide average by 10%, • Mis-ordered Panels or Doors less than 5% annually, • Driving Scorecard: Minimum 90%, • Must be IDA Certified, • Cleanliness/Professional Appearance, Care of Company Vehicle & Inventory, • Rapport and Attitude with Fellow Employees and Customers PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Depending on the functional area of assignment, tasks involve the regular and, at times, sustained performance of moderately physically demanding work and may require occasional lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of heavy objects or materials (up to 80 pounds). Tasks that require moving objects of significant weight require the assistance of another person and/or use of proper techniques and moving equipment. Must be able to climb and work off of a 12’ high stepladder. ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Tasks are regularly performed inside and/or outside with potential for exposure to adverse conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, fumes and/or poor ventilation, wetness, humidity, rain, temperature, and noise extremes, machinery and/or moving vehicles, vibrations, electric currents, animals/wildlife, toxic/poisonous agents, gases or chemicals, oils and other cutting fluids, violence and/or disease, or pathogenic substances. SENSORY REQUIREMENTS: Tasks require sound, visual, and depth perception and discrimination. Tasks require oral communications ability.
