This is not a generic guard post. This is a high-trust, school-based safety role for professionals who can combine readiness, restraint, mentorship, and de-escalation inside a K-12 environment. You will be a trusted adult, a first responder, a steady presence in moments of tension, and a critical part of the school’s overall safety posture. What You Gain: Real K-12 Training Dedicated Mentorship and Support Clearance and Onboarding Support Career Advancement Schedule Reality This is a school year, school safety role with a structured schedule: Monday to Friday - 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM OR 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, depending on location The role follows the regular school calendar and includes occasional after-school and weekend events. Compensation: $18.00 per hour Year-Round Income This position follows the 10-month school calendar. To help support more stable annual income, Cardinal Point gives officers consideration for crossover hours in our commercial and event divisions during the summer break and other school downtime. You are being hired to help maintain a safe, stable, and violence-free learning environment while serving as a trusted safety partner to students, staff, and school leadership. The strongest officers in this role know how to: • project confidence without creating fear, • Stay calm under pressure, • detect problems early, • de-escalate conflict before it becomes a crisis, • respond decisively to serious threats, • document incidents clearly and professionally What You Will Do Proactive Safety • Maintain a visible, professional presence on campus, • Conduct proactive patrols of school buildings and grounds, • Monitor hallways, entrances, common areas, and student safety hot spots, • Support access control and visitor management procedures, • Use calm verbal de-escalation and sound judgment during conflicts, disruptions, and student/parent incidents, • Help stabilize situations without unnecessarily escalating them, • Build positive, professional relationships with students, staff, and administrators, • Act as a capable first responder during emergencies, access control breaches, and critical incidents, • Support school leadership and law enforcement coordination when needed, • Monitor CCTV and support campus awareness, • Write clear, factual, professional incident reports, • Report on safety and facility concerns promptly, • Execute the Cardinal Point basics every day: Be on time, look sharp, be engaged, be consistent, • Support secondary posts or special assignments when operationally required Physical Requirements This is an active role that requires: • walking up to 10,000 steps per day, • standing for extended periods, including up to four hours per day, • operating effectively in a dynamic school environment Required Qualifications • High School Diploma or GED, • Ability to pass criminal background investigation and drug screen, • Must be willing and able to obtain all state-mandated K-12 clearances and school-readiness requirements, • Reliable transportation, • Active cell phone with reliable email access, • Strong verbal and written English communication skills, • Professional, student-appropriate, customer-focused demeanor, • Sound judgment, emotional control, and the ability to work well under pressure, • No felony or misdemeanor convictions involving moral turpitude Preferred Qualifications • Prior experience in one or more of the following:, • School safety / school security, • Previous experience in a school, campus, or youth-oriented environment, • military police / military, • retired or former law enforcement in good standing, • corrections, • CPR / First Aid / AED certification, • Strong report-writing ability, • Demonstrated ability to balance authority with approachability, • Experience working with adolescents, school staff, or youth-serving environments What Success Looks Like in This Role The strongest candidates for this position are: • reliable and consistent, • calm under pressure, • strong verbal de-escalators, • professional in appearance and conduct, • able to build rapport without losing authority, • alert, observant, and proactive, • mature enough to distinguish between student misbehavior and true threats, • able to operate with restraint, sound judgment, and documentation discipline Application Process We respect your time and your background.
