About the Role: The Senior AML Case Investigator conducts extensive investigations, ranging in complexity, into money laundering and financial crime typologies to identify unusual and potentially suspicious financial activity, from various sources including but not limited to the AML transaction monitoring system, Reports of Unusual Activity ("RUA") referrals from various business units and/or teams both internal and external of FID. Such referrals may also originate from law enforcement requests and Information Sharing requests (314(a) and 314(b)). Recommends course of action to management based on their investigative analysis of the subject's activity, possible negative news and documents the analysis and recommendation in the Bank's AML transaction monitoring system. Supports the company's compliance efforts with the Banking Secrecy Act (BSA). * Performs in-depth review of customer and transaction activity related to possible money laundering, financial crime predicate offenses to money laundering, terrorist financing typologies to identify trends and patterns of unusual or suspicious activity for possible Suspicious Activity Reporting (SAR). * Research, analyze, and investigate cases of varying complexity, including a holistic review of customer relationship, transactions, and customer-provided information to support recommendations for disposition (SAR or No SAR). * Perform 314(b) information sharing outreach and respond to incoming information sharing requests to facilitate investigations into suspicious activity. * Communicates with branches, business units, and management for clarification when researching and investigating cases, as necessary. * Documents results of the investigation analysis within the AML transaction monitoring system in such a manner to ensure it meets regulatory and procedural requirements. * Present recommendations to file or not file a SAR to AML management or designee. * Prepares Suspicious Activity Report (SAR) for filing with FinCEN when applicable. * Assist AML Case Investigations Managers with applications related to workflow and case management, ensuring cases and SAR filings are reviewed and dispositioned in a timely manner and meeting applicable regulatory deadlines. * Maintains a deep and thorough understanding of money laundering, financial crime, and terrorist financing typologies and predicate offenses for money laundering. Able to apply that understanding in analyzing customer transaction and behaviors to identify activity consistent with the typologies. * Maintains and demonstrates compliance with all bank regulations for assigned job function and apply to designated job responsibilities; follows all Bank policies and procedures, compliance regulations, and completes all required annual or job-specific training. * May assist with the review and approval of investigations on AML cases as needed and delegated by Management * When needed assist with the establishment and implementation of BSA/AML and OFAC Compliance priorities, for effective and efficient utilization of the Bank's AML transaction monitoring system at the discretion of the Chief BSA Officer or Director of Investigations. * Provides analysis and recommendations on AML case investigation process improvements to streamline and/or improve efficiency. * Provides day-to-day support to AML Case Investigators in the absence of the AML Case Investigations Manager. * May stand in for AML Case Investigations Manager on a temporary basis as related to oversight of processes and/or AML staff, as needed. * May assist AML Case Investigations Manager with responding to audit, exam and quality control reviews to address observations, recommendations, and opportunities for process enhancement. * Maintains a deep and thorough knowledge of Bank's written policies and procedures regarding Bank Secrecy Act, 314(a), 314(b), and OFAC sanctions compliance requirements. * May be asked to coach, mentor, or train others. and teach coursework as subject matter expert. * Participates in ongoing training to maintain knowledge of BSA/AML and OFAC regulatory requirements and new and emerging money laundering and financial crime typologies. * Cross-trains with management to enhance skills. May provide guidance or training to lower-level AML Case Investigators. * May assist management with updates to BSA/AML & OFAC procedures. * May perform other duties as assigned. About You: * Bachelor's Degree in business, economics, accounting, law, law enforcement or related fields (preferred) * H.S. Diploma/GED (preferred) * 4-7 years - relevant BSA/AML/OFAC, Compliance, Audit or Bank Operations experience. (Preferred) * Possess strong analytical and problem solving skills, with ability to gather, organize and interpret data and/or information, and formulate preliminary conclusions. * Proficient in the use of personal computers and related software packages such as MS Word, Excel. * Knowledge of overall BSA/AML, USA PATRIOT Act, and OFAC requirements and regulations. * Ability to exercise good judgment in assessing risk. * Demonstrate leadership skills and ability to oversee/monitor workflows and train new AML Investigators. * Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to security procedures. * Demonstrate strong communications skills, written and verbal and interpersonal skills to interact with a wide range of individuals and situations with tact, diplomacy and discretion. Travel Requirements The pay rate for the selected candidate is dependent upon a variety of non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, education, and geographic location.
