Associate Relationship Director - Spanish speaking Job Purpose The role holder will play an active role in the development, execution and management of a portfolio of Corporate Banking relationships within the European and MENA regions, assisting the Relationship Director in achieving income targets and maintaining or growing profit margins without compromising EAB’s credit risk quality. Principal Accountabilities & Duties Business Origination • Research, create, follow up and regularly update a target list for potential new business, • Support the origination and structure of innovative and technically sound transactions with client organisations taking into account the Bank's risk appetite and Climate Risk factors in all business development activities., • Assist in the establishment of a presence in the market and solidify market reputation with increasingly larger positions in syndicates and bilateral relationships., • Assist in the development of business links on a pan-European basis., • Develop industry expertise and pursue business development opportunities to enhance and build EAB’s franchise and reputation across the assigned industry sectors., • Support the Relationship Director in meetings with clients to monitor changing circumstances / plans / opportunities, together with ad hoc meetings as required, recording the Call Reports and action points as relevant. Communicating all key messages concerning relationship to others as appropriate., • Support the development of banking solutions using a diagnostic approach. This will require the job-holder to gain an in-depth understanding of customer needs and to take a holistic view of the customer’s business., • Process the timely execution of the customer transaction by liaising with the appropriate departments at EAB., • Process the customer on-boarding process as per the CIB Standards., • Join the Relationship Director in implementing an active client contact programme focused on pro-actively building relationships at a senior and operating levels within existing and target organisations. Portfolio Management • Review Relationship Plans to create an action plan, if appropriate., • Production of portfolio business reports and presentations both internally and externally, • Monitor existing transactions for performance, handling waiver and amendment requests, liaising with Credit in preparing the annual review package, ensuring a consistent and coordinated portfolio management approach from across the Group., • Update customer folders with financial information, Credit approvals and other customary information as required., • Undertake trips along the RD to call on existing or prospect customers to develop on-going relationships., • Ensure the quality of data within our systems for customers is robust., • Mitigate the operational risk with respect to the Corporate Banking portfolio. Risk Assessment • Deliver a no-surprises approach to risk by using open dialogue with customer on risk status and by interfacing with other Group companies’ risk processes to ensure a consistent approach., • Develop high quality credit solutions which are both practical and appropriate for the customer., • Prepare credit applications [use of analysis & synthesis of business and credit information applicable to the request]., • Support the preparation of facility letters and the execution of documentation and draw down of facilities., • Accountable for sourcing the financial information produced by customers., • Manage Early Warning List customers to reduce credit risk in accordance with Risk guidance., • Identify, agree and instruct taking and updating of security (including valuation)., • Prepare business plans and budgets for own portfolio, to ensure alignment to the overall strategy. Manage and monitor own implementation of business plans and budgets to ensure you meet/exceed objectives., • Manage own activities to implement Bank policies, procedures, and practices concerning granting or extending lines of credit, commercial loans, letters of credit and guarantees to protect the interests of the Bank. Governance • Liaise with Legal Department on Documentation, the Credit Administration Department (CAD) on Conditions Precedent and Compliance on Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements., • Continuing adherence to policy in respect of ongoing relationships to ensure we satisfy our regulatory requirements-particularly when new directors/partners added to the mandate., • Ensure quality of data within our systems for your customers is robust. General/Administration • Attend team meetings on a regular basis to maintain dialogue., • Share information to ensure up to date knowledge of market place, business development activity/initiatives, competitors and people issues etc., • Liaise with the parent company, Arab Bank PLC and with other Arab Bank branches to promote the Corporate Banking business throughout the Group. Risk & Regulatory Duties • Maintain knowledge of all applicable regulatory requirements including the Bank’s Risk and Compliance policies and procedures and adhere to these to avoid exposing the Bank to undue risk., • Report policy, procedure and/or regulatory breaches or suspicions to the Risk and/or Compliance departments in line with the Bank’s policies., • Accurately execute all controls within own area to minimise risk of policy, procedure, and/or regulatory breaches., • Identify new risks/control gaps within own area and escalate accordingly to your Line Manager and/or Head of Department., • Ensure customer complaints are managed in line with the Bank's procedures. Financial Crime • Act as the “First Line of Defense”., • Responsible for the accurate execution of Financial Crime Prevention controls in accordance with the Bank's policies and procedures., • Ensure KYC reviews for own portfolio are completed in line with due dates and agreed EAB KYC standards., • Maintain KYC knowledge of assigned client portfolio and ensure Due Diligence/Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) is carried out as required depending on the risk category of the clients and update the Bank’s KYC databases., • Be vigilant to unusual or suspicious behaviour by our customers and report any suspicions to the MLRO., • Ensure adherence to the Bank’s AML, Financial Crime and Anti-Terrorism policies and procedures. Required Skills and Expertise • Fluency in spoken and written Spanish, English and French, • Minimum 5 years in corporate banking relationship management role with exposure to trade finance products
