Salary: £25,000 - £28,000 (subject to experience) + benefits + training Role Overview LAUNCH is looking to recruit a junior or graduate industrial bottle designer for a client-facing role. We’re looking for someone with an industry or academic background in industrial design, product design, 3D design, technical design, or design engineering. You should have at least two years’ experience working with 3D CAD (through study or industry) and be able to communicate clearly in both written and verbal formats. As this is a technical role, you should be comfortable using analytical thinking to understand briefs and explain ideas in a clear and approachable way. You’ll collaborate closely with the team to tackle technical challenges and will be supported as you build confidence discussing solutions with clients and suppliers. In this role, you’ll help support our clients by providing technical packaging insight and industrial design services. A key part of the job is turning creative ideas and technical briefs into 3D structural packaging concepts and production-ready designs across a range of materials, including glass, crystal, aluminium, wood, ceramic, and plastic. Our in-house production knowledge and technical design expertise are central to how we work. Everything we create is expected to be both beautifully crafted and technically robust, so strong attention to detail is essential, and a good eye for design is a welcome bonus. You don’t need prior bottle-design experience - full training will be provided. What matters most is that you’re self-motivated, proactive in learning new skills, and able to apply new knowledge with confidence on future projects. This includes balancing technical requirements, consumer appeal, sustainability considerations, and cost effectiveness to meet client design and business objectives., • Providing technical packaging consultancy, including interpreting and analysing client briefs., • Managing and maintaining client product data, ensuring quality and accuracy., • Communicating with clients (via email, online meetings, and phone) throughout project development to ensure requirements and deliverables are clearly understood and met., • Collaborating with colleagues (face-to-face and online) to progress projects and continue developing job-related skills. Responsibilities • Building knowledge of packaging production processes, materials, filling, and distribution - through on-the-job training and proactive self-led learning., • Responding quickly and flexibly to client communications; our fast, reliable availability is a key part of LAUNCH’s service., • Planning and managing a varied workload with a proactive, adaptable approach., • Working with a strong commitment to quality and continuous improvement., • Working overtime when required to support client deadlines. Qualifications, Skills and Experience Essential • An undergraduate degree (or higher) in industrial design, product design, 3D design, technical design, or an engineering discipline. A 2:1 or above is preferred, but strong 2:2 candidates will be considered., • Minimum two years’ experience (academic or industry) using 3D CAD software. Experience with any CAD system is acceptable - full CATIA training will be provided., • Experience producing technical drawings and design documentation., • Strong computer literacy (Windows and Microsoft Office)., • Excellent attention to detail., • Excellent written and verbal communication skills., • Good analytical and technical problem-solving abilities., • Ability to work to tight deadlines. Desirable • Two years’ experience working in industrial design, product design, 3D design, technical design, or design engineering (structural packaging experience is a bonus but not required; full training will be provided)., • Experience with product data management., • Industrial design hand sketching & ideation., • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite., • Experience with 3D printing & prototyping., • Experience working with quality control standards., • Ability to interpret technical briefs and communicate technical concepts clearly., • Experience with non-CAD 3D modelling software (e.g. Blender) and/or 3D rendering software (e.g. Keyshot)., • Knowledge of packaging technologies, production processes, and materials., • Experience managing client accounts., • Experience with FEA, including interpreting and reporting results., • Ability to travel internationally for occasional client site visits (including to the US)., • Experience in structural packaging design or a related field is advantageous but not essential. Location • LAUNCH is based in Penarth, UK., • This is a studio-based role; candidates must be able to commute or relocate to the Penarth area., • Standard studio hours of 9am-5pm, Monday-Friday apply, with flexible working available after the training period (at employer’s discretion).
