Role Overview The Shoreside Technical Manager will play a critical role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of yachts under management. Acting as the primary technical liaison between owners, captains, crew, and shipyards, the role requires strong engineering knowledge, project management expertise, and a proactive approach to maintenance and refit planning. Key Responsibilities • Oversee the technical management of assigned yachts, ensuring compliance with class, flag state, ISM, ISPS, and other relevant maritime regulations., • Develop and monitor planned maintenance systems, ensuring optimal vessel performance and reliability., • Manage dry docks, shipyard periods, and refit projects—coordinating schedules, budgets, specifications, and contractors., • Provide technical support and troubleshooting guidance to captains and chief engineers., • Monitor and control operating budgets for technical areas, ensuring transparency and cost efficiency for owners., • Conduct regular vessel inspections and produce detailed reports on technical status and compliance., • Liaise with classification societies, flag administrations, and regulatory bodies as required., • Maintain strong professional relationships with yacht owners, representatives, and suppliers to ensure seamless service delivery., • Stay current with new technologies, environmental regulations, and sustainability initiatives relevant to yacht operations. Skills & Experience Required • Chief Engineer (STCW III/2) CoC or equivalent technical qualification preferred., • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a yacht or cruise ship engineer, with at least 2 years in a management or shoreside role., • Proven track record of managing technical operations, dry docks, or refits., • Strong knowledge of ISM, ISPS, MLC, MARPOL, and class/flag requirements., • Excellent project management, organizational, and communication skills., • Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders under time and budget constraints., • Commercial awareness and financial management skills., • Proficiency with planned maintenance software and Microsoft Office Suite., • Fluent in English (additional languages an advantage).
