The department Job Purpose: To operate as an effective member of the Banking & Finance team specialising in Banking & Finance transactional work. To be responsible under supervision for own caseload of work and own fee targets. This role will be 100% fee-earning. Achieve the targets as defined by the Team Leader, including contribute hours and fees. Responsibilities and duties: To participate and contribute to the banking & finance team to ensure an effective working environment, supporting Solicitors, Associates, Partners and other fee-earners on more complex matters as appropriate Attend the firm’s training programme and other relevant technical training to ensure that skills and knowledge remain up-to-date Maintain awareness of the legal market specifically relating to banking & finance Carry our various tasks as and when required by allocation from a Partner or other member of the team Preparation of correspondence and documents from precedents in compliance with DMH Stallard house style guide Completion of standard forms without fee earner assistance and production of standard letters and reports as required by the role To be responsible for ensuring achievement of own key financial targets, including fees, contribution and payment of debts and disbursements Maintaining accurate data on case manager and The Intranet To monitor own performance in relation to the number of live files, file closures, file openings, billing, time recording and to take appropriate action to ensure targets are met.Other information Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required Some previous experience of banking & finance transactional work (or with a demonstrable ability/capacity to learn). Some knowledge of relevant legislation, and relevant case law, and a willingness to learn Able to effectively manage your time to achieve client and internal deadlines and to effectively prioritise tasks Understanding the importance of a high level of client care with an ability to deal with a wide range of clients with differing objectives / requirements (including being able to understand the commercial objectives of the client) Able to deal efficiently and effectively with a varied caseload, working on a wide range of client matters running at the same time Able to work well within a team and provide support to other fee-earners as required by the role Competent IT skills including Outlook, Word, and Aderant/iManage and relevant legal research tools Strong attention to detail and organisational skills. Understanding of the strategy and vision of the firm. Able to communicate effectively and appropriately with clients, in writing, over the telephone and in meetings. Able to convey technical legal information in an effective and accessible way.
