Job Title: Product Design Engineer Location: York Salary: £35,000 – £42,000 per annum We are seeking an experienced Product Design Engineer to join an established engineering and manufacturing company based in York. This role is well suited to someone with a strong automotive or consumer product background who can take ownership of a product from concept through to production, considering both how it operates and how it looks. Key Responsibilities: • Design and develop products from initial concept through to manufacture using SolidWorks., • Take a holistic approach to product design, considering functionality, usability, aesthetics, and performance., • Produce detailed 3D models, assemblies, and 2D manufacturing drawings., • Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and project teams to ensure designs are practical and cost-effective., • Support prototyping, testing, validation, and design refinement., • Manage design changes and maintain accurate technical documentation., • Contribute to continuous improvement and innovation across product ranges. Skills & Experience Required: • 5–10 years’ experience as a Product Design Engineer., • Strong proficiency in SolidWorks., • Background in automotive, consumer products, or similar product-led industries., • Strong understanding of product functionality, user interaction, and aesthetics., • Experience designing products for manufacture and assembly., • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail., • Ability to manage projects independently and communicate effectively with stakeholders., • Relevant qualification in Product Design, Mechanical Engineering, or similar.
