The Candidate Reports to: Supervisor Purpose of role To support clients with all aspects of their day-to-day living, so they can enjoy the best possible quality of life. You will mostly work alone with the service user in their environment, which could be in a care home or in their own home, providing care and support. Compassion, good communication skills and a calm and caring manner are essential for this important role in our company. Key responsibilities To provide safe, reliable, compassionate care and support to meet the individual needs and wishes of each client. Each person is unique therefore you must respect each client’s choice about how their care and support is always given and promote their dignity. You may be the only person the customer sees over a period of time; it is therefore essential to promptly report any changes or causes for concern to your line manager. You need to be clear about when to seek help and advice to keep clients safe and promote their well-being. Duties Care and support Give non-discriminatory care and support that values the whole person rather than merely seeing a list of care needs. Carefully listen and observe how each client prefers their care and support to be delivered on a day-to-day basis. Help them make their own decisions so they can be as independent as possible. Follow the instructions in the care and support plan agreed with each client. This may include: • All aspects of personal care such as showering and bathing, dressing, grooming, dental hygiene, toileting, and continence care, • Assisting with medicines, ordering, and collecting prescriptions or returning unwanted medicines to the pharmacy for safe disposal, • Supporting the customer to eat and drink well. For example, helping the customer to plan what to eat and drink, giving gentle encouragement, shopping, preparing, and serving food and drinks, clearing the table, washing up and keeping the kitchen area clean and tidy, agreeing with the customer how to store food safely and when to dispose of out-of-date produce, • Safely using aids and personal equipment in a manner that respects the dignity of customers. For example, walking frames, wheelchairs, manual and electric hoists, sliding sheets and moving boards, hearing aids and other physical aids, • Housework such as dusting, tidying, washing floors, vacuuming, and sweeping, doing the laundry, and ironing, making beds, and changing the linen, • Social and physical activities or mental stimulation such as keeping in touch with friends/relatives, taking a customer out shopping or to social activities, hobbies such as reading, photo albums, games, etc., • Supporting a customer through temporary and terminal illness, including end of life care, hospital appointments, liaising with community health support and families Record and report • The care and support that you provide and assistance with medicines, • Changes to a customer’s condition or other concerns e.g., faulty equipment or hazards in the home, • Response to emergencies, accidents, incidents, and safeguarding matters, • Contact with families, representatives or carers and other professionals, • Other matters as required by Oasis Healthcare procedures, • Keep all information about customers and their families secure and confidential except where policy requires you to share, to protect the interests of our customers Work well as part of the Oasis Healthcare team • Follow Oasis Healthcare policies, procedures, and guidance always, • Take part in staff and customer meetings, • Attend training activities, supervision, and appraisal meetings This list is not exhaustive, and you may be asked to carry out additional duties.     Job title: Pre-school Level 2 or 3 Practitioner Responsible to: Preschool Manager and Chair of management committee Responsible for: All Pre-school children, staff and setting. Escrick Pre-school is a small term time only, charity run (not for profit) setting located in the quiet village of Escrick situated within the Village Hall with our very own dedicated Pre-school room and enclosed outdoor area. We are a small nurturing team of just four Early Years Practitioners and a fantastic committee of parents who feel very proud of the special little Pre-school we run. We care for children between the ages of two to four years of age and we like to have a high staff ratio to ensure we can provide high quality care to our young children. Due to a change of staff circumstances, we are now looking for an experienced, ambitious and passionate Early Year’s Practitioner to join our small and incredibly friendly team. The role of Deputy is available for an experienced candidate. At Escrick Pre-school, we endeavour to create a happy and comfortable working environment for our staff whereby all feel valued and respected. Salary: £12.71 per hour = £1,358.22 per month = £16,297 per annum Early Years Practitioner Purpose: To provide high-quality care and education for preschool children as part of the staff team, supporting their learning, development, and wellbeing under the direction of the Manager and Deputy Manager. Key Responsibilities: Plan and deliver activities aligned with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Act as a key person for a group of children, liaising with parents/carers and updating Tapestry journals. Support children’s physical needs, including toileting and nappy changing. Complete 2-year progress checks and end-of-year reports. Set up and tidy the learning environment daily. Supervise children during activities, snacks, and meals. Support children’s emotional wellbeing, communication, and social development. Administer basic first aid and maintain current paediatric first aid certification. Flag safeguarding or safety concerns to the Manager, maintaining confidentiality. Attend team meetings and training as required. Work in partnership with staff, the management committee, and other professionals. Perform other reasonable duties in line with Pre-school policies. Early Years Practitioner – Person Specification Essential: Minimum Level 2 qualification (e.g. NVQ or equivalent) Strong understanding of child development and individual needs Committed to supporting children and families Friendly, nurturing, and engaging approach Committed to inclusive practice and supporting diverse families Willing to learn and adapt to new approaches Physically and mentally fit to care for young children Enhanced DBS Clearance Desirable: Experience in a charity-run Pre-school Familiarity with online learning platforms (e.g. Tapestry) Basic IT skills Paediatric First Aid trained (or willingness to train) Food Hygiene Level 2 Up-to-date safeguarding training A DBS check is required for these roles.
