Reporting to the Head of the Technical Content team, you are a recent graduate with a degree in English or a related field of study or a technical writer with one to four years’ experience. You are inquisitive, collaborative, and a quick learner. You are an excellent writer, and you love language and understand the importance of mapping out your content and presenting it simply and clearly. Ideally, you have Atlassian Confluence and markdown experience, but if not, you are eager to pick up these skills. You are creative, organized, and comfortable drafting content in working sessions with subject matter experts (SMEs), including product managers and software developers. You realize the value of great editing and work with your teammates to edit their content and to implement their feedback in your content. Your work is consistent, concise, and clear—you know who your audience is and how to tell an engaging, impactful story. You understand hierarchy, taxonomy, content flow, and formatting so that users can easily find exactly what they need. Principal Responsibilities We are seeking an entry or junior level technical writer to create internal and client-facing documentation, which clearly explains how to use our products and informs the interactive courses we build. Our mission is to empower the people who serve our clients and to offer our clients direct access to answers so they may be self-reliant and delighted. In addition to creating original product documentation, you will work on existing documentation to replace it with curated content, and you may create technical documentation for our software developers. You will help maintain internal resources, such as our Acronym and Jargon Guide, video library, and style guide. You will assist in producing documentation for clients, including user guide articles, key product updates (release notes), and embedded application help (such as tool tips). Qualifications/Experience • 0-4 years, • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, • Fast learner and collaborative team member, • Able to prioritize while working on multiple projects, • Three Cs: Consistent, Concise, Clear Tools/Skills (note: for entry level candidates, these skills are not essential) • Confluence experience a plus, • Markdown a plus, • Ability to organize projects, with Jira exposure a plus, • Content/graphics/video tools experience a plus, such as SnagIt, Canva, Loom, and Adobe Creative Cloud, • Taxonomy/hierarchy and templating knowledge, • UX writing interest, • HTML/CSS a plus, • Familiarity with code structure (preferably Java and/or Python) a plus, • GitLab branching a plus

Although experience with all of this is great, the organisation is more interested in collaborative Engineers who can bring strong soft skills to the team, so have some flexibility around tech. Additionally, they place a really big emphasis on following best practices and software fundamentals and are looking for Engineers that have worked in a similar environment. They're also very focused on testing, where you'll regularly follow TDD, so they're looking for Engineers who value and understand the importance of quality code. You'll ideally have experience with most of the following; • Java (ideally SpringBoot), • Microservices, • Test Driven Development, • Front End Development (HTML, CSS and JavaScript), • Working with Databases (ideally PostgreSQL) Experience with the following is highly desirable; • DevOps; Docker and Kubernetes, • Cloud Services (AWS, Azure, GCP, OpenShift), • Reactjs + TypeScript This opportunity would be ideal for an ambitious Software Engineer that is looking for a collaborative team, that are committing to using modern technologies and best practices.
