The role will involve frequent travel within the UK and internationally. What you’ll do You will prepare PV arrays for EL inspections by safely isolating circuits, configuring electrical test equipment, and supporting drone pilot on-site. You will also read schematics to select the required tools and evaluate the complexity of the inspection, complete pre- and post- inspection documentation, and troubleshoot electrical or communication issues in the filed as needed. You will ensure that all electrical works are compliant with BS 7671 and site specific requirements. This is primarily a field-based role and can involve early morning starts, evening and night work, and travel with overnight stays. Full training will be provided on the method of electrical biasing for EL inspection. You will also be involved in training electrical technicians from our partners in other countries to perform the inspection. There is an opportunity for the successful candidate to receive full training in becoming a drone pilot and supporting on additional inspection flights. Our client is a firm member of the Electricity Transmission industry, specialising in strategical investment in offshore electricity transmission systems across Europe. We are looking for an experienced Substation/Transmission engineer, Senior wind turbine technician (with electrical and fault-finding experience) or other related engineer who is familiar with fault finding, electrical systems (high and low voltage) and ideally experience working offshore. KEY TASKS: Principle duties, accountabilities and responsibilities of the Asset Engineer will include: • Management of health, safety, environmental and contractor management, including undertaking audits of the O&M service provider and providing reports to senior management., • Managing and ensuring compliance with business objectives., • Management of outsourced Operations and Maintenance (“O&M”) providers, including where necessary procuring additional services and managing the associated contract., • Identification and mitigation of operational risks., • Ensure work is undertaken in accordance the Asset Management Strategy, identifying trends and providing improvement suggestions where appropriate., • Incident management and review, providing recommendations to senior management for all operational incidents / asset failures., • Reporting and/or assisting in the reporting to lenders, lenders technical advisor insurers, and regulatory authorities etc.; and, • Stakeholder management and representing DTUK with external bodies. Desirable: • Experience of offshore transmission, subsea cables especially their condition monitoring, failure mechanisms and repair techniques., • In-depth knowledge of substation supporting systems, e.g. cranes, heating and ventilation/air-conditioning, fire detection/deluge systems, low voltage distribution systems and uninterruptible power supplies, • Proven in-depth knowledge of electricity regulation and knowledge of NESO., • Experience of major construction contracts and the management thereof., • It would be an advantage to be knowledgeable with regards to safe systems of work and ideally authorised as Senior Authorised Person., • Experience of project financed companies and working with lenders and their advisors; and, • IOSH/NEBOSH qualification.
