We're looking to recruit an Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) in St Helens on behalf of our social housing client. This is an initial 3-month temporary contract, working 37 hours per week (Mon to Fri), based in the office. The successful candidate will act as a Duty Officer, responsible for contacting customers, triaging new cases and offering immediate safety planning advice and support. You will liaise with customers via a range of agreed contact methods, and respond to self-referrals either on the phone or face to face. Key responsibilities: • Work within the duty team, receiving self-referrals and speaking with customers via telephone or face to face to triage cases and assess risk level, • Complete MERIT/DASH risk assessments and offer immediate safety planning advice, • Provide advocacy, emotional and practical support to victims in relation to legal and housing options, health and finance, • Ensure all risk assessments, support plans, outcomes and customer contact is accurately updated within the case management system, • Work in partnership with external services and make referrals to other agencies, • A strong background working and supporting people and families suffering from domestic violence, ideally with a Safelives or IDVA qualification, • Experience of completing MERIT/DASH risk assessments, and attending MARACs, • A good knowledge of the Domestic Abuse Act 2001, Family Law Act 1989, Serious Crime Act 2015, • Strong communication, interpersonal, empathy and resilience skills, • Weekly pay, • Competitive hourly rates, • Option to be paid PAYE or Umbrella Hays Specialist Recruitment Limited acts as an employment agency for permanent recruitment and employment business for the supply of temporary workers.
