The Role: Lead DevOps Engineer This is a Lead role within the Data Collection Platforms team and is responsible for the strategic data collection platform, as well as several other systems critical to the businesses mission. Whilst we are looking for someone with relevant experience, we do not expect new joiners to have skills across our entire technology stack and will support you to fill technical gaps. Responsibilities: Contributing your expertise towards the continual improvement of our technology stack, ranging from complex cloud-hosted applications utilising IaC and full CI/CD automation, to more traditional VM-based on-premises systems. Leading, mentoring and collaborating closely with those in your immediate team and with colleagues in other Technology teams. Being an excellent teammate, happy to document and showcase your work to the team, enabling them to understand and support your work. Skills & Experience: Strong practical knowledge and experience of GitHub Actions, Terraform, and Azure. Strong practical knowledge and experience of PowerShell. Strong practical knowledge and experience of using git for source control. Willing to mentor junior engineers. Willing to experiment and fail fast. Have a security-first focus, baked-in not bolted-on. Understanding and ability to provide quality, automated testing as you develop. Be able to demonstrate a high level of professionalism, organisation, self-motivation and a desire for self-improvement. Ability to write clear and concise documentation. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to plan, schedule and manage a demanding workload. Desirable criteria: Strong practical knowledge and experience of deploying and configuring Windows based systems in Azure via GitHub Actions and Terraform. Good practical knowledge and experience of SQL. Good practical knowledge and experience of Azure Monitoring. Software development experience using C# and SQL Server.
