Job Title: Employability and Skills Tutor Location : Devon (home-based with delivery across community venues) Salary : £27,000 £29,000 per annum Contract Type : Permanent, Full-Time (37.5 hours per week) Annual Leave: 25 days + 8 bank holidays Role Overview : We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Employability and Skills Tutor to deliver short qualifications to adult learners across Devon. The role involves teaching a variety of vocational programmes ranging from 1-day workshops to 12-day courses, covering areas such as: Support Work in Schools Safeguarding Understanding Autism Basic ICT Customer Service Employability Skills Delivery will take place in community venues across Torridge and North Devon (e.g. Bideford, Barnstaple, Ilfracombe). This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated tutor who is passionate about adult learning and committed to helping learners progress into further training or employment. Key Responsibilities : Deliver accredited classroom-based courses to small groups of adult learners. Carry out initial assessments, develop learner action plans, and monitor progress. Provide advice, guidance, and pastoral support throughout the learner journey. Mark learner work, provide feedback, and complete progress reviews. Contribute to curriculum design, schemes of work, and resource development. Maintain accurate records, documentation, and reporting in line with requirements. Manage a caseload of learners effectively, ensuring high-quality outcomes. Promote safeguarding, equality, health and safety, and safe working practices. Support learners in building confidence, employability skills, and progression opportunities. Attend meetings, training, and CPD activities as required. Essential/Desirable Criteria : Essential : PGCE or Level 3 teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards). English and Maths at Level 2 (or equivalent). Experience of delivering adult learning courses. Strong subject knowledge across vocational programmes. Excellent communication, organisational, and IT skills. Ability to manage workload independently and meet deadlines. Full driving licence and access to a car. Enhanced DBS (funded by employer). Desirable : Knowledge of the FE sector and current good practice in adult learning. Experience supporting learners with employability and progression.
