Customer Information Governance Specialist Location: Plymouth (Building 2, Derriford Business Park) Contract Type: Full time, Permanent (37 hours per week) Salary: Starting from £30,000 p.a. We’re looking for a Customer Information Governance Specialist to provide expert, independent guidance and support to our customers, ensuring they meet their obligations under data protection legislation and wider information governance standards. This is a role for someone who enjoys autonomy, variety and building trusted relationships. You’ll be the go-to specialist for your allocated customers, helping them navigate complex IG requirements with confidence and clarity. What you’ll do • Give customers clear, independent guidance on UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act, Caldicott principles and wider IG standards., • Lead the development and monitoring of customer compliance, translating legislative changes into practical actions., • Work autonomously; planning your workload, responding to customer needs and building strong, trusted relationships., • Provide specialist support on DPIAs, SARs, breach reviews and complex multi-party investigations., • Advise on incident assessment and reporting through the DSP Toolkit, including escalation to NHS England or the ICO where required., • Act as the customer’s point of contact for the ICO to ensure responses are timely, accurate and compliant., • Collaborate with DPOs and other service areas, supporting training, toolkit submissions, project work and post-incident improvements., • Help customers maintain robust Records of Processing Activities (Data Mapping)., • Create engaging awareness materials - newsletters, posters, lunch-and-learns - that bring Information Governance to life., • Keep customers informed by monitoring updates from NHS England, the ICO and other relevant bodies., • Provide cover for colleagues and deliver additional duties as needed to support the team. What you’ll bring • CIPP/E (or working towards it), or equivalent knowledge and experience., • Expert understanding of UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act and related health sector legislation., • Experience or strong insight into NHS environments, ideally General Practice., • The confidence to work independently, organise your workload and take ownership of customer relationships., • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills – the ability to get to the heart of issues quickly., • Excellent communication skills, whether presenting, advising or guiding customers through complex decisions., • Exceptional customer service and the ability to build trust at all levels., • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across Devon to various customer sites.
