HR Business Partner Contract type: Permanent Location: This is a hybrid role with home working and office attendance. The home and office working requirements will be discussed at interview. At least 1 day per week in the Cambridge office, CB22 3GN. Hours of work: Full time 37.5 hours per week 9am – 5.30pm, Monday – Friday. Salary: £50,000 - £55,000 pa (FTE), dependent on experience. Overview As part of our ambitious expansion plans, we are seeking an experienced HR Business Partner to build and maintain relationships with managers to deliver positive employee relations and provide practical HR support to our business operations. Your role will provide hands-on support to ensure our HR initiatives are effectively implemented and aligned with our business goals. Additionally, you will manage a small but growing team, including two Recruitment HR Administrators. The successful candidate will have likely been involved in helping drive a business through a significant growth curve, ideally in the IT and cybersecurity industry. This role offers the opportunity to shape and support the HR strategy across the business, but the focus will be on delivery. Key responsibilities Operational support and employee relations • Serve as the first point of contact for managers and employees, building strong relationships and providing practical, timely HR support across the employee lifecycle - from recruitment and onboarding to development, performance, and exit., • Provide clear, confident guidance to managers on HR policies, performance management, employee relations, and development planning, helping them navigate challenges and apply best practices., • Handle employee queries and ER matters with professionalism and sensitivity, promoting a positive, inclusive, and solutions-focused workplace culture., • Use HR systems to maintain accurate records, streamline processes, and provide insights that support decision-making and service improvement., • Anticipate and stay abreast of changes in employment legislation, including the forthcoming Employment Rights Bill, ensuring the business is prepared for upcoming legal shifts and adjustments to policies, contracts, and practices., • Proactively advise management on the implications of employment legislation, ensuring policies, contracts, and practices align with legal requirements and best practices., • Support the compliance manager by ensuring the HR policies reflect the requirments of the standards we maintain such as ISO, SOC2 and GDPR, • Demonstrate a self-starter mentality by independently managing continuous professional development (CPD), staying current with legal updates and best practices., • Provide guidance on data-driven metrics and strategies to improve efficiency, reduce spend, and enhance quality-of-hire, while supporting the HR Recruitment Administrators in day-to-day operations., • Manage a small HR team, including two Recruitment HR administrators, providing guidance and support to ensure effective HR service delivery., • Partner with external HR Consultants to efficiently deliver defined projects., • Support the professional development of the HR team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment., • Collaborate with senior leadership to support the company’s growth strategy by developing and implementing HR initiatives that align with and maintain HR compliance with the company’s growth objectives., • CIPD qualified at a minimum of Level 5 (degree level)., • Proven experience as an HR Business Partner or similar level HR role., • Strong knowledge of HR best practices and UK employment law., • Awareness of ISO, GDPR, SOC2 and other compliance standards and how they interact with HR policy., • Evidence of continuous CPD., • Proven record of managing and supporting business change and business growth., • Excellent communication skills. Strong stakeholder engagement with the ability to influence and guide decision-making., • Strong MS Office skills, tech-savvy, and experience working with HR software., • Experience of managing a small team., • Practical approach to problem-solving and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment., • CIPD qualified at Level 7 (postgraduate diploma)., • Experience of working in a Group Company model with shared central services., • Experience of reporting to a board of company directors, with the ability to navigate complex business dynamics and pivot as necessary in response to evolving priorities or challenges., • Experience within the IT and/or cybersecurity industry., • Experience working within a Managed Services Partner (MSP) environment., • Competitive salary of £50,000 - £55,000 pa (FTE) (experience dependent), • Generous starting holiday entitlement: 33 days annual leave allowance per year (25 days standard plus 8 bank holidays)., • Westfield Health Membership (offering cashback on health services plus discounts for retailers and gym memberships)., • Life Cover (2 x basic salary)., • Enhanced Company paid leave schemes., • Employer pension contribution (4% employer, 4% employee).
